How do you get a PCIe card to use 600+ W?

These are "Twin" systems in SuperMicro parlance - two entire CPU/RAM/GPU trays go into a 1RU space, and share a power supply.

But the thing in the latter image is obviously not engineered for this purpose - looks like a MiniITX board rotated sideways with a PCIe 1x extender to the GPU slot, so pretty janky.

Wow! This article has some corrections needed. The Cirrascale RM1622DX as shown here is actually a 1U two-in-one rackmount. The system cost may be close, but the wattage is off. the 864W (which is wrong) is split between the two system in the chassis. Not sure of the cost, but Cirrascale was showing the Valley Vista (Intel Visual Computer Accelerator) in the system at the show. Again, keep in mind that this is two servers in one 1U chassis.

Broadwell will consist the old Denlow platform and require C220 series chipsets while Skylake will require C230 series chipsets on the Greenlow platform.Online journalism programs
