Why would you want to set one tablet onto another tablet?
As you suggested it's not really unique. Dell was, as far as I recall, the first to feature a machine like this with their Dell Inspiron Duo. Not a bad machine.
This was actually a pretty cool little device for taking notes at school, at the time, since most laptops back then were several pounds heavier and more expensive.
This device could really be helpful with it being so light and not bulky. However, the price does seem a little steep. Also, the unique point is not really true, I think. Dell, did have something similar launched way before this product.
I would still take the Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 over this device. The pricing is more competitive from Lenovo, and getting a 512GB SSD in the Yoga Pro 3 isn't going to cost you a body part.
I get where you're coming from, but I won't touch another Lenovo after their malware/poisoned cert fiasco. Too bad no one else has stepped up to make a really great Yoga Pro competitor.
Writing off the hardware due to bloatware isn't always the right approach, especially when you can just blow the default install away and install a fresh copy of the OS.
What about the HP spectre x360 - 12h battery life, 3/4in-thin - better than even the new yoga 3 (yoga 700/900). Similar class are also the Dell inspiron 7000 and lenovo miix 700. Interesting 12in'ers are the HP x2 and Dell xps 12. Wish they'd all have narrow bezels ala xps13. Actually, given the minimal size difference, I'm considering the new skylake r14 R5-471T convertible (although the r13's ezel mode is uniquely compact on my lap when i'm viewing a textbook (or having a meal) on the table.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but on touch devices with Windows, isn't there always a little button next to the tray for pulling the touch keyboard up?
I asked Acer about it and was told to reset it to factory, which I did, and it still does it. There's a hardware switch somewhere that's not set correctly.
You are correct, and if it's not there, you can right click on the taskbar, go to Toolbars, and then select Touch Keyboard to put it there. (On Windows 8 that is)
The i5 5th Gen, 128GB, 1080p model is currently selling at the Microsoft Canada Store for $699 and includes the Acer Active Pen. It's a pretty good deal at this price point.
Way too much money for that thing. I see all the whining on video card prices, but there should be a lot more whining on the gigantic markups they all do on these notebooks.
I wish they'd release another in the R7-571 / 572 series - the "proper" R7 series with the keyboard at the front and the touchpad at the back.
I hate using touchpads, and only found out when getting my R7 that some people do like them - I'd thought it was a universal hate, for some reason. But the R7 packed in an i5 (laptop, so dual-core, mind) and GT 750M (dedicated GDDR5 version) with a 15.6" 1080P screen (my favourite balance between size/resolution/legibility) and genuinely useful transformation modes, for under $1,000.
I'd hoped they'd release a successor that included a numpad - my one great nitpick with the original. In fact, when I come to replace it in a few years, I'm dreading my options, as having the keyboard at the front and the used-twice-a-month touchpad at the back has been so great for me.
But here they've just aped that old Dell format for hybrid laptops.
I have exactly the same point of view -criticism seemed to mostly come from people trying to use it unconventionally-although to be fair, when in ezel mode, a stylus or a touch app to improve precision without using a mouse was necessary. The failure of market acceptance is one of many examples of the revolutionary failing because the conventional trumps the visionary e.g. Salomon's quick lace system hasn't fully replaced regular laces even in their foot wear lines

The thing I hate most about lenovo is their customer service.followed closely by their super cheap TN panels that have the worst viewing angles ever.
If you want a good product and a company that stands behind it, surprisingly enough, Microsoft is the only company worth looking at.
