Rather clever, actually. The battery in the tube area effectively lowers its center of gravity, reducing the burden of keyboard's hinge to keep the screen upright without having to resort to a Surface style kickstand.

Actually, I think the tube should provide a certain amount of grip-ability, at least in portrait mode. Landscape mode promises to be a bit awkward though.
Is there a stand built in to the cylinder area similar to the lenovo yoga tablets? I'm not seeing any mention of it nor can see one in the pictures but would make sense to have one.

Tube idea is rubbish without its own support like lenovo.
I have to say it's pretty lazy journalism not to comment on how similar this design is to the Lenovo Yoga series. It's a good design, and well worth taking inspiration from, but give credit where it's due, please.
Yes, I agree with you spend the same for lower resolution tablet with a lower amount of touch software because it runs magical Windows. None of the listed options will replace an real i5 laptop that I can use in my lap or on a desk. But at least this device is primary for touch has more touch software options. Just say no to distractions and pseudo tablets when you need a darn Windows laptop. I would be interested in Surface 3 with Windows 10 and no keyboard cover and more touch software. But it needs more ram for the entry level model.
Can't see Dell not offering this with Windows, just a matter of installing the different OS on it for the most part. But it's not meant to replace a real Core i laptop anyway, however as a secondary machine it's an interesting option if/when they do put Windows on it. I like the Surface 3 also, but this could be a close contender with Windows 8.1/10 on it. While the ecosystem of apps isn't there my Android tablet just doesn't do things my windows laptop does so easily, like access my network shares.
Not really, Windows would spoil this form factor it is just not fit for purpose on tablets yet.
Android is becoming more productive every day, and if you really want to use Windows just use a app like Splashtop 2 to remote in to your Windows/OSX box

I've definitely read complements of the fairly similar (fairly obvious inspiration really :)) Leonovo things in terms of it helping to hold them.Can't hurt battery life either.
