Anyone know when Moto X is suppose to get this?
  • Jackattak - Monday, February 2, 2015 - link

"First week of February" is all we currently know regarding the Verizon Moto X (2014) and the Verizon exclusive Motorola Droid Turbo. Keep checking this week. :)

    Sincerely, Droid Turbo Owner

Downloading Lillipop on my S5. Needed to install an update to prep for Lollipop, and installing the actual Lollipop update now.

Lame that the S5 gets this before the Note 4!
  • nycehs - Monday, February 2, 2015 - link

How the hell is it lame that a phone that came out MONTHS b4 the note 4 gets the latest update b4 the Note 4? Fuckin idiot smh
  • extide - Monday, February 2, 2015 - link

Because the Note 4 is the current latest flagship out of samsung. Historically phone that came out longer ago have always been less likely to get updates.

The S5 is the latest flagship phone. The Note 4 is the latest flagship phablet. There's a difference.
  • Sushisamurai - Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - link

so they're both flagships of difference size categories? I failed to see the difference why one flagship gets preferential treatment versus another flagship by the same company? That said, i'm just glad android's getting a new update!

One moves significantly more units than the other?
  • questionlp - Monday, February 2, 2015 - link

My understanding is that the Note 4 Lollipop update was delayed due to Gear VR components.

Has HTC given any indication of when Lolipop will start getting past US carriers for subsidized phones>

Any word on a lollipop update for Samsung's other flagship phone the note 4.

After installing Android 5 on S5 my internal space went from 2.1g free to only 467m free.
Does anyone know what would be causing this.

Samsung installed an additional 1.6gigs of crap on your phone.
  • Gigaplex - Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - link

Samsung would have installed that extra crap on KitKat too.
  • Gigaplex - Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - link

It's bigger, so you have less free, would be the obvious guess...

On a more serious note, I believe that ART consumes more storage space than Dalvik did.
  • rado992 - Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - link

The difference is probably due to ART storing more data about your apps in the storage. IIRC, ART only compiles each app once (upon installation) and then stores the compiled binaries so that no JIT compilation happens. The process is explained in detail here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8231/a-closer-look-a...

Really hoping this still comes to the Note 2 like they said it would.
  • intefix - Wednesday, February 4, 2015 - link

    Avoid it. It sucks!
Screwed up several of my apps.
    Drains battery considerably faster.
    Makes the phone run slower...

Updated a few days ago, so far no problems. In fact I am really loving it. Fast also

Good luck with Lollipop. It wreaked havoc on my nexus 7, even after the 5.0.2 update. Apps would take a minute to launch. Button presses would take 30 seconds to register. Had to hard reboot every 4-6 hours as it got so laggy. Reverted back to 4.3 and it is normal and fast again. Wish you luck with it on your phones.
