Also similar to a feature in Motorola Connect is the ability to see who is calling on your "PC" except that you can also take the call on your Mac and even pass it back to your iPhone later. That said, there some odd shortcomings with that Yosemite feature:
1) You can't start a phone call on your iPhone then move it to another device like you can with the other apps using Handoff, only have it on another device and pull it back to the iPhone from the iPhone. 2) The time it takes for the ringing to start/stop between devices is not fast enough, so once you pick up on one iOS or OS X device tied to an Apple ID it still rings for several seconds on the others. It's like the end of Lawnmower Man. To bad it can't be smart enough to know what device you're using at that time. 3) If you make or receive a call on your Mac you won't have a dial-pad for tonal input so you'll have to grab your iPhone in and go into the phone app through the Home Screen in order to navigate any automated systems (if you click the active phone bar at the top it will pull the call back to your iPhone). 4) The app that opens is FaceTime despite it only being a voice call, which just looks sloppy.
Except Motorola Connect worked on Windows via a chrome plugin. I loved it.
Apple's solution is Mac only, not even the PC version of iCloud Control Center comes with it, nor does apple offer any sort of browser extension.
I'm a gamer mostly, so Mac's will never be my primary work station for obvious reasons. Really wish apple would bring over sms relay to windows PC. until a jailbreak is available, that's all we can hope for.
i disagree. I use Remote Messages tweak every time the jailbreak comes out. Works great, and even has a chrome extension. It even carries over images, and video from both imessage and sms.
I think the way the tweak works is it sets up a https server on the phone.
Did they fix the screen rotation issues that iOS8 has with 8.1 release? My wife's iPhone 6 from the factory and my iPhone 5 since upgrading has a host of screen rotation issues. A lot of times the screen will refuse to rotate unless the app is force closed and then re-opened. Occasionally it requires a reboot before screen rotation will work in that app (things like iMessages, facebook app, safari, etc). I also have occasional touch screen issues where it'll refuse to acknowledge a touch in a spot (like on a letter) in iMessages (and only iMessages), where the same deal. Force close and then it works again.
Apple definitely put much more of this process in the hands of the financial institutions than I would have expected. I mostly had different setups for each card:
• One card not supported even though the bank and multinational are on the list, but there is a 3rd entity as an issuer that hasn't yet come aboard. • Two cards that are supported from different banks and multinationals that don't have any additional PIN verification steps. • One card that required one of three verification options listed in the Passbook app to get a 6 digit PIN to complete setup. It uses either email, get SMS, or call an 800 number) Note: the email and SMS phone number are what is listed on my account by the card issuer, not what Apple has on file.
Can anybody confirm Bluetooth fixed in their car? That issue was killing me and my wife since it had always worked flawlessly until 8.02 - will be trying it out very shortly.
For me it did, but mine was never the "connection" issue others were experiencing. I had this wibbly-wobbly, underwater sound when connected to BT in one car, which was not present in any other BT connection and didn't happen with a different iPhone in said car.
My issue and my wife's was that it would drop the BT connection after 5 seconds. Call would stay connected at the phone. Sounding optimistic. Her car is a Hyundai and mine is a Ford with exact same behavior, so had to be something well known. Never saw other or Apple describe this exactly.
That kind of sound you're referring to is probably some pretty extreme audio compression. Exactly why that particular setup was prompting your phone to compress so heavily, I can't say, but that's a place to start.
I updated but haven't been able to get SMS relay to work. Under Settings/Messages/Text Message Forwarding, I try to enable and it brings up an entry for the 4 digit code shown on my Mac, but I'm not getting the notification. I did get a credit card loaded into Apple Pay though.

SMS Relay? Is it like Motorola Connect on the PC? Because I love that feature. Really useful.solipsism - Monday, October 20, 2014 - link

It rides atop iMessage so you're not going to see it with a jailbreak.Morawka - Monday, October 20, 2014 - link

According to the patch notes there is a rotation fix. I haven't experienced it myself but I would imagine it fixes the issue you're experiencing.HunterKlynn - Monday, October 20, 2014 - link
The patch notes indicate they fixed screen rotation issues, but it hasn't been out long enough to really know if it's fixed yet.solipsism - Monday, October 20, 2014 - link

All in all, a pretty smooth process for Day 0.

If you have a valid American card but are presently outside the US it may not allow you to set up Pay.SMRTech - Monday, October 20, 2014 - link

I'm too scared to be the guinea pig so the iPad 3 I have laying around is still on 7.1.2.Devfarce - Monday, October 20, 2014 - link

Last night I noticed a small, incy wincy, bit of slow down on my iPad air. Will keep an eye on itflyguy29 - Sunday, December 14, 2014 - link
My phone's iMessage/ text message is still faulty and the screen rotation is way less responsive. I think iOS 8.1 has not fixed some fundamental bugs.
