I'd say this is a lot of hype for something that needs to compete with the Titan Z, but a $3000 video card doesn't have a whole lot of competition if you know what I mean....
  • Static_FX - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

the card was leaked yesterday. its water cooled, dual chipped, 8gb ram... its said to be $1500.. but there is no confirmation on that
  • Flunk - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

    That sounds pretty likely.

I like AMD, but the level of sponsored articles here is getting a bit much.
  • toyotabedzrock - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Really? A few red color codes in a css file is too much for you? You can always use stylish to change it back.
  • sascha - Thursday, April 3, 2014 - link

    Well, I like it. :)
  • richardginn - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

AMD will go for a 4 grand Video card, hehehe...
  • nathanddrews - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

The real competition will be 295X2 vs 790Ti at the $1,000-1,500 window.

At least for gaming, that is.
  • Assimilator87 - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Yeah, I'm disappointed that AMD paired back the DP FP performance on consumer Hawaiis. Now nVidia actually has a justification for the high prices on the Titan(Z), whereas with Tahiti, it offers all the same features, with moderately lower performance, but significantly lower price.
  • Alexvrb - Sunday, April 6, 2014 - link

I hope you're joking. This is a gaming card first and foremost. They didn't cut back the FP64 performance just for laughs - they sacrificed some FP64 performance to improve gaming performance - Nvidia does the same thing on their gaming cards! The Titan Z is a semi-pro card. If you want FP64, compare the Z to the latest FirePro cards.
  • Da W - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

    295X!!!!
Should equal Titan Z for a fraction of the price.... powerbill excluded.
  • AndrewJacksonZA - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

But what’s in the briefcase? That will be a subject for another day…

Aw COME ON!!! We're already on the edge of our seats with this thing! :-)
  • nathanddrews - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

I would have made the code 1-2-3-4-5.

(I suppose with 6 tumblers, it would have to be 0-1-2-3-4-5)
  • extide - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

That's the code on my luggage!
  • Arkive - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

That's something an idiot would put on his luggage.
  • SleepyFE - Thursday, April 3, 2014 - link

    Didn't watch Spaceballs?
  • SleepyFE - Thursday, April 3, 2014 - link

My bad. Forgot that part (it's been a while).
  • pidgin - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

290 290 should have been the code, cmon
  • dagnamit - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

    nailed it.
  • piroroadkill - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

    000 000?

That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! That's the kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!
  • extide - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

That's the code on my luggage!
  • mak360 - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

If anybody purchased a briefcase or a combination luggage, he would know that by default; the numbers are "000 - 000" unless you change them. Duh

It probably never crossed "AMD`s" mind to change it to 290-290. Anyway who cares what the numbers are, well apart from the Benches right?
  • samlebon2306 - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

    It's a lunch box.
  • Daniel Egger - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

You certainly know how to blow AMDs hype pipe...
  • Peeping Tom - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

That's a nice briefcase. I like that briefcase.
  • jardows2 - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Agreed. Though a bit wider than most business briefcases. I wonder if you mod it into a unique computer case?
  • rcarroll05 - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

I would have the code would have been 263 for both sides. On your phone that would translate to AMD
  • piroroadkill - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Well, just from the image on the box, it's clear the leaked pictures were real.

Funny how Nvidia casually pulls out the Titan Z on stage while AMD goes through this dumb month long "hype" campaign.
  • nathanddrews - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Did you expect anything different? NVIDIA could have launched dual GK110 over the holiday season, but they are nothing if not deliberate. Why show all your cards at once when the competition has nothing to compete? If the roles were reversed, NVIDIA would be the one with the hype campaign.

I'm hoping that AMD follows the tradition of the 290X launch and Vesuvius ends up priced closer to $1,000 than $1,500. Miners notwithstanding. It is probably false hope.
  • anubis44 - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

nVidia's already dead meat in the gaming market. AMD's sweep of the game consoles has seen to that.

  • Gunbuster - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Jesus did they have an intern do that? Cheap vinyl sticker with poorly cut out edges. The graphic doesn't even line up between the ribs on that shoddy oriental trading company case.

If you cant nail the presentation on a $10 briefcase promo how can anyone expect a top class $800+ card to be properly executed!
  • mak360 - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Please get some sleep before you make us all look like fools.
  • Elixer - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

The briefcase has a fold out heat sink (aka radiator) for the new dual card...
The dual card will ship in another box.
  • toyotabedzrock - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

They should have sent the briefcase to some blogs with out an nda and given them the code when the nda was lifted.

That would have provided a massive amount of hype. Or they could have put an electronic lock and sent cracking software that runs on AMD gpus and the NDA would get lifted when the first non nda blogger cracked the code and published.
  • Amazing Larry - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

AMD should get into the briefcase selling business, that's one hot case! TAKE MY BRIEFCASE MONEY NOW AMD!!!
  • jjj - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

Isn't it amazing how Anandtech finds time to report on a metal box from a company that pays , yet a few hours after BUILD and a few more hours after Amazon's launch event you had no time to report on any of that. Something is very very wrong here.

OH HOW I LOVE THAT THEY PUT THE WORD RADEON ON THE CASE.... I miss the old radeon name. I think that if they bring the name back ill buy the cards, just because radeon was a household name for me as a kid.
  • piroroadkill - Thursday, April 3, 2014 - link

What? All AMD GPUs are AMD Radeon.

Do you mean you miss ATi?
  • hamoboy - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

What I'd like to know is when the mobile Kaveri chips come out. That's a lot more exciting than a dual chip GPU that'll be used by a tiny fraction of the market.
  • moozoo - Wednesday, April 2, 2014 - link

My Guess. It is a workstation version of Kaveri that has a 1:2 DP ratio.
  • rbarrett96 - Monday, April 7, 2014 - link

0-0-0? That's the same combination I have on my luggage!
  • dparis1977 - Monday, April 7, 2014 - link

Nothing like spending $1500 on a GPU that has 10 cent crappy drivers. AMD would be great if they knew how to make drivers that worked half as good as Nvidia. Ill stick to Nvidia at least I know my SxxT will work right.
