Awesome.what is 5.2” Full HD TRILUMINOS™ Display for mobile with Live Colour LED their site is mentioning?i mean live colour LED part
  • josephnero - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

Never mind.here is what they claim:
brand new Live Colour LED uses red & green phosphor with blue LEDs and customised colour filters to produce a brighter and more uniform light. The result is richer colours on the screen for all of your smartphone viewing without the risk of saturation

Am I the only one who would prefer features like dual microSD/ 128gb+ onboard storage, instead of 4k recording, powerful CPU/GPU, screen resolution?
  • ZeDestructor - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

By the looks of it yes. In addition, you can't feasibly have dual microSD on phones at this point in time, since SoCs only have two flash controllers. One goes to the eMMC (though it could certainly be bigger than 16GB) and the other to the microSD slot.

Hope this device comes at a similar price to z1
  • JoshHo - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

It should be, this is just a new version at the same tier.

Sony claims specs are: "2.3 GHz Qualcomm APQ8074+MSM8974AB"
Why would they put MSM8974AB as well in wifi and LTE version? Maybe wifi version only has APQ8074 without LTE support and MSM8974AB is present only in LTE version?
  • krabar - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

    BTW. MSM8974AB is Snapdragon 800. MSM8974AC is Snapdragon 801.
  • JoshHo - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

Yeah sorry for the error, I was thinking of the LTE version only. I will fix it now.
  • krabar - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

Whitepaper confirms different SoC for wifi-only and LTE version so it's OK now.

    But it's still Snapdragon 800, not 801! Check for yourself - MSM8974AB

  • JoshHo - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

Sorry for the delay, I was doing some checking to make sure that 8974AB did not fall under the 801 branding. Thanks for the notice, I have corrected it now.
  • krabar - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

There is still "Snapdragon 801" in table regarding "Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet" :)
  • malty - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

qualcomm has it the sonys under 801
    http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/blog/2014/02/24...

anandtech may want to check that AB is also under the 801 moniker
  • krabar - Tuesday, February 25, 2014 - link

Yes, sure, Qualcomm blog, great source of info - they simply said what Sony said. They state the same thing about Galaxy S5 http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/blog/2014/02/24...
    But Galaxy S5 really has 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801. Xperia Z2 has MSM8974AB (Snapdragon 800), Galaxy S5 - MSM8974AC (Snapdragon 801).
  • malty - Tuesday, February 25, 2014 - link

Qualcomm Blog is the best source of info, because it comes from Qualcomm directly. So yes, what Qualcomm says would be more reliable than even Sony and notebookcheck.

Just wanted to say that the ads overlap the table at the start of this article (and often times others). Firefox 27 / noscript (everything enabled except google analytics / ~ tag services) /ADB+ allowed for anandtech.com.
  • josephnero - Monday, February 24, 2014 - link

Sony blog is saying 801.they usualy correct their white papers a month later
  • AmRivlin - Tuesday, February 25, 2014 - link

I assume there is no NFC or Qi Charging support on this device
  • Fidelator - Wednesday, February 26, 2014 - link

The Z2 now uses IPS + Triluminos instead of the TFT + Triluminos the Z1 offered, check out Erica Griffin's video on the phone in youtube and supercurio's graphs on G+, this is a completely new panel and preliminary results show some really nice things going on in there.

IMHO It has easily beaten the SGS5 in most aspects.
