Not sure if it's the same thing but one of the products my company is developing uses a "proximity sensor" to detect when someone or something is approaching the device. This allows the device to change state depending on whether it thinks someone is about to use it.
Depends on the price. I still use an Acer A700 with Tegra 3 and 1GB and it works okay, and I have another tablet (LePan Tab II) with a MediaTek SoC and 1GB that also works fine for most tasks. For $150 or so, I know plenty of people that would like a decent tablet. Right now, finding 10" tablets for under $200 often means Chinese imports with little or no support.
I might get one of the 10" tablets. I'm having a hard time justifying a $400 tablet that mainly gets used while taking a dump and I do prefer the 10" size.
