I'm glad the IR blaster is working now, that has made reluctant to get GPe. It's a feature you won't appreciate unless you have a bunch of remotes and realize that universal remotes - even the Harmony series from Logitech - have major annoyances like having to turn switch them from a known state (usually "off").
A caveat: That's only true if your devices only support power toggle, and not discrete Power On/Power Off commands. That being said, I understand your point.

Which is why Motorola's engineers are pretty pissed by Google's neglect of the company. But Google understands that it can't be seen playing favourites too heavily as other OEM's will lose interest. Of course, nothing really threatens the domination of Android this year or next year but things move very fast, just look at the decline of Symbian in the 2009-2011 period.
If Google is perceived as overtly picking favourites that will hurt them down the line. So Motorola simply has to deal with it.
Brian, could you please confirm what is the version of Maps that came default (not updated) with 4.3?
Jelly Bean had version 6.x and a few weeks ago Google started updating to 7.x via PlayStore, but this update pissed a lot of users that use gps navigation heavily.
Because Maps 7.x will remove the GPS Navigator app. This is the reason over 500 people are complaining in google groups. But I don't want to make this a post about the complaints.
Brian, could you check and tell us the un-updated version of Maps ?
here, 21 pages of complaints and explanations to why navigating in the new maps is worse than in the dedicated GPS Navigator app. unfortunately it seems Brian is not watching comments here anymore... :(
I am really jealous of these phones but living in Iowa our only real options for operators are Verizon and even worse US Cellular. There is little to no ATT or T-Mobile coverage here.
Since I highly doubt these phones will be comes for Verizon or US Cellular, what Verizon phone would you recommend? I have been leaning toward the HTC One (not Google Play Edition), but the new Motorola phones are looking decent. I always appreciate your insight.
While I see that consistency is important with GPe phones, I feel like Google should add an OLED-optimized setting to reduce power consumption on these phones. User-toggled would be ideal.
Did anyone notice the camera firmware update on the S4? After the phone booted from the updated, there was a message onscreen that said something like "Updating Camera Firmware, please wait" for about 20 seconds or so. Wonder what that brought to the table?

It's usually a diff, and if modem was flashed (which sometimes isn't a diff) that accounts for a lot of the size.-Brian

Got my update last night.... was hoping for the fix to allow camera pics to be saved to SD card. Still not there..... or am I just missing something?
