I would prefer it if they stayed with Nvidia for the 15" rPro, CUDA cores are still very important for us pro users.

agreed, unless Iris is a viable alternative, in which case, I can accept the reduced heat, size, and power consumption of not having it

Would love to see the WiFi spectrum analysis you always do, Brian, unless the failing internets foil your upload :)

Jeeez! It's impossible to read Live blog coverage from the beginning... it keeps scrolling all the time :/
    Why not add sort-order?
  • SeeManRun - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

Thanks for the blog Anand. Feels like it should scroll the other way though; so when you read the screen doesn't keep jumping on you. Have oldest content at the top like a normal website. The part at the top was written before the stuff on the bottom :)
  • Rand - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

Agreed, it's very frustrating to read when the screen keeps jumping around on you and you have to scroll downwards again just to fine your place every 15 seconds or so.
It's also rather unintuitive to read from the bottom upwards.
  • WeaselITB - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

I'll toss my hat in on this as well - frustrating to read it "backward" and then have it constantly jump on me.

"always encrypted (256-bit AES) on device when pushed, only on trusted devices"

    Is NSA a trusted "device"?
  • designerfx - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

who said they're letting you make that decision? intel has already enabled it on chip, and if you're buying intel, you've already made your decision.
  • BSMonitor - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

Verizon willingly gave up this data. The NSA did not hack into it.

These battery life and UI GPU improvements, I wonder how far back these will go? Like, C2D/320M?
  • whyso - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

Seriously. When you are done with the updates please but the posts on this page in a first to last order.

Old Mac Pro as dual GPU.

I'm disappointed they didn't mention anything about the rMBP.
  • evilspoons - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

Yeah, no kidding. I was hoping for Haswell so I could make up my mind on my next laptop...
  • xTRICKYxx - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

Its coming with their Macbook Pro refreshes.
  • ahamling27 - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I'm not seeing why my 4s can't do the share sheet stuff. Seems like a forced upgrade feature for sure.
  • evilspoons - Monday, June 10, 2013 - link

I think part of the automatic direct peer-to-peer networking relies on a feature in the WiFi radio chipset. They restricted AirDrop on OS X to newer Macs as well when they introduced the feature.

I really hope that the auto-app update in IOS7 is not forced. I know there are some apps that I don't want to update. In fact, I would appreciate if they added a button for skip update/hide update like Windows updates do.

I know one app in particular I don't want updated is AVplayer HD. When I bought it, it had support for Ac3, DTS, etc, and slowly the codec support is going away. So I have refused the last several updates, to retain the codec support I want.

I have not found a good video app for the Ipad that has hardware acceleration and still actually supports all of the popular codecs. Its such a nagging issue that I am considering jailbreaking the Ipad2 to run VLC or switch over to an Android tablet when I need a new tablet.

Of all the things in the keynote it may seem a little silly, but I am pretty excited/curious about the new form factor for the Mac Pro. The design really reminds me of some rather old articles about the 'future of computing' where PCs would eventually become modular, making upgrades of your core (CPU, RAM, program storage), GPU, mass storage, and other drives separate purchases. I guess what we do not know yet is what the expansion kits will look like. If they will be their own individual silos, or if the whole setup will be stack able.

Also, I find it interesting that Apple's stock rode high through the keynote, and is currently tanking afterwards, while MS's stock tanked during their keynote but has now recovered most of it's losses. I find that most interesting as I found apple's keynote to be pretty good with a lot of unexpected additions, while MS's was predictable and boring.

Lastly, iOS7 seems to be extremely reactionary to WP. Theres a lot of WP features in there that they snuk in, which I find very interesting as WP is really not in a competitive position yet. The WP team had better keep up with their 3-4 month GDR updates for a good long time to keep the pressure on iOS and Android, otherwise they will just be the company that brings up the good ideas that the others copy and perfect.

The new Mac Pro is the Power Mac G4 Cube all over again (No surprises - Also a J. Ive design). Gimmicky, expensive. Belongs in designer home offices. Not really a power user's PC...
  • anirudhgargi - Tuesday, June 11, 2013 - link

Most of the IOS7 features looks copied from Cydia repos , but polished.

Control centre, swipe, gestures.. Who says apple doesn't do market survey...

Now if only I could get folders in folders, my reasons for jailbreaking would be expunged.
