The link for "Desktop: Windows Vista/7/8 64-bit" wasn't working for me, so I did a little fiddling with the URL and found success with this one:

Thank you smithg5, I was also having problems with that link.

Not that it really makes nVidia's naming scheme any less nonsensical, but this actually isn't the first R319 series beta. nVidia released a 319.12 beta for *nix systems earlier in the month: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/539249/un...

That's almost worse -- what exactly did this driver do for Linux users? It's not helping with gaming performance in Neverwinter or Dead Island: Riptide I don't think (unless there are Linux ports?)
  • JarredWalton - Wednesday, April 24, 2013 - link

And now that I posted my snarky comment above, let's just say that the *nix driver release notes appear to have nothing in common with Windows. Not that they should, but I wonder where they actually overlap? http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/60198

I'd assume internals that convert OpenGL commands into raw GPU instructions are mostly the same.

Well, I remember I read an interview on Phoronix with a Nvidia driver dev, and he actually said that the drivers share about 85% of their code base. The recent nvidia driver for linux layed the first steps towards a perfectly functional Optimus mechanism for linux. The thing is, Bumblebee, whilst not perfect, is still better. They haven't implemented anything functional though.

This fixed the overclock bug I was having with 314.X

On 310.X I could overclock my core clock to as high as I wanted, but 314 broke it to a mere 775MHz. Now I can go back to 1100Mhz on 320!

I wonder if these drivers do anything for TreesFX performance in Tomb Raider...my GTX 460 goes from 40FPS at 1080 to pretty much 1fps with TreesFX enabled!
  • bakedpatato - Wednesday, April 24, 2013 - link

that would be "tressfx" on that note.
  • psuedonymous - Thursday, April 25, 2013 - link

Well, if you wanted to simulate a Willow tree...

Do you have the 1GB version of the 460? Use Afterburner or something to monitor VRAM usage
while the game is playing, maybe it's thrashing the VRAM? Note that 2GB 460s aren't so hard
to obtain now, I bought one off eBay for 65 UKP BIN last month. However, if you have the budget,
obviously a newer card with 2GB or 3GB would be sweet, *if* lack of VRAM is your issue.

GT 740M not supported by these drivers. Very disappointed.

These drivers fixed my Far Cry 3 crash so I am happy!

Not to leave AMD out (since I still own one)- AMD released 3.14 4/24 also...I always enjoy a few bumps in perf, but not sure if this does anything for my 5850...LOL as only the 7000 series is mentioned. Bummer. Probably just the latest get bumps on the green side too. I'd have to benchmark our machines to know and I'm too lazy this week (or too busy making me lazy?...LOL).

Performance gains seen with the entire AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series for the following:
Batman Arkham City (1920x1200): Performance improvements up to 5%
Borderlands 2 (2560x1600): Performance improvements up to 10%
Quake Wars (1920x1200): Performance improvements up to 13%
Hitman Absolution (2560x1600): Performance improvements up to 11%
Wolfenstein MP (1920x1080): Performance improvements up to 11%
Civilization V (2560x1600): Performance improvements up to 5%

Is there anyone still playing quakewars or Wolf MP? I wish they'd optimize games WE PLAY:
    http://www.gametracker.com/search/etqw/US/?sort=c_...
NOT ONE player on the server for quake wars or Wolf MP. OOPS, expanded to ALL countries instead of USA and there is 2 servers over 6+ players for Qwars and a small amount on Wolf (better on wolf). OK, somebody is at least playing these (but not a ton).
    http://www.gametracker.com/search/et/US/?sort=c_nu...
But still why do they waste their time? Do they need to be enhanced? They are old now from 2007 or before. Did they get accidentally enhanced by something else they did so they felt like they might as well mention it? They need to optimize more stuff actually being USED. Of course NV optimized Dirt Showdown and Sniper v2 which nobody plays either. But sites like you guys pointing out AMD victories forces them to waste their time on games that don't even sell 100,000 copies. Nice work guys. Take these piss poor games out of the game suite please and burn them.

And some fixes are always good (though it'd be better if they weren't broke to begin with on either side...heh)

With the Radeon HD7790 graphics card, corruption may be seen in the game Tomb Raider with TressFX enabled
Texture flickering may be observed in DirectX 9.0c enabled applications
Corruption observed in Tomb Raider with TressFX enabled for AMD Crossfire and single GPU system configurations
Corruption observed on objects and textures in the game, Call of Duty – Black Ops 2
Corruption observed in the game, Alan Wake (DirectX 9 Mode) when attempting to change in-game settings with Stereoscopic 3D using Tridef
Corruption observed on textures in the game, Battle Field: Bad Company 2 with forced anti-aliasing enabled
Adobe Photoshop CS6 experiences screen flicker under Windows 8 based system
Horizontal line corruption may be observed with forced anti-aliasing enabled in the game, Dishonored
System hang may occur when scrolling through the game selection menu in the game, DiRT 3
F1 2012 may crash to desktop on systems supporting AMD PowerXpress (Enduro) Technology

Good to see them working on enduro with all the complaints at notebookcheck etc (80 pages alone on notebookcheck). But you solve one issue on enduro you get another? :)
"A black screen may be observed when resuming from a S3/S4 sleep state if the display is unplugged during the sleep state on systems supported AMD PowerXpress (Enduro) Technology"

    http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx
You can get to all the drivers from there depending on notebook/desktop etc..

And not sure where you got your NV numbers at:
    http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-g...
    Game Settings & Results:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution: Performance increased by 4.5% at 2560x1600 using max settings and FXAA High.
DiRT Showdown: Performance increased by 19.6% at 2560x1600 using max settings and 8xMSAA.
F1 2012: Performance increased by 4.8% at 1920x1080 using max settings and 4xMSAA.
Far Cry 3: Performance increased by 6% at 1920x1080 using max settings and 4xMSAA.
Hitman Absolution: Performance increased by 3.7% at 1920x1080 using high settings.
Metro 2033: Performance increased by 6.3% at 1920x1080 using High settings and AAA Anti-Aliasing.
Sleeping Dogs: Performance increased by 3.3% at 2560x1600 using Extreme settings and Normal AA.
Shogun 2: Total War: Performance increased by 3.4% at 1920x1080 using max settings.
Sniper Elite V2: Performance increased by 4.8% at 1920x1080 using max settings and AA High. With 2.25x Supersampling enabled, performance increased by 5.5%.
StarCraft II: Performance increased by 8.5% at 1920x1080 using max settings and 8xMSAA.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Performance increased by 3.3% at 1920x1080 using max settings.
Tomb Raider: Performance increased by 11.3% at 1920x1080 using Ultra settings and FXAA, and by 17.8% at 2560x1600. Using Ultimate settings and FXAA, performance increased by 16.6% at 1920x1080.

IE, tomb raider shows 11.3% at 1920x1080 using Ultra settings and FXAA, and by 17.8% at 2560x1600 for the 660 (instead of your up to 8%, more than double on the 2560 res), and cranking up (or down?) details gets even better results supposedly on 1080P: Using Ultimate settings and FXAA (these are both the same settings or I'm just tired...LOL ultimate fxaa on both 11.3% and 16.6% @1080p so what gives, one must be msaa?), performance increased by 16.6% at 1920x1080. dirt showdown 19.6 instead of your 18, etc...Your numbers seem a little low according to NV site, or a lot low for the card you picked. Those numbers you have don't fit any card I don't think. They only mention 660 & 680 with and without sli. No idea where you got your numbers (NV is the best source no?), or did you guys just lower them all a few points for fun? ;) Starcraft 2 at 8.5% they say, you say 6....Seems like the usual NV hatchet job here :) You left off Skyrim and Sleeping dogs also.

It looks like the 680 SLI got the biggest treatment of games upped:
    Game Settings & Results:

Assassin’s Creed III: Performance increased by 3.7% at 1920x1080 using Very High settings and Very High Anti-Aliasing.
Batman: Arkham City: Performance increased by 5.8% at 1920x1080 using Very High settings, High Tessellation, and FXAA High.
BioShock Infinite: Performance increased by 4.3% at 2560x1600 using Very High settings.
Crysis 3: Performance increased by 3.5% at 1920x1080 using max settings and SMAA MGPU (2X).
Deus Ex: Human Revolution: Performance increased by 5.9% at 2560x1600 using max settings.
DiRT Showdown: Performance increased by 20.5% at 2560x1600 using max settings and 4xMSAA.
F1 2012: Performance increased by 4.9% at 2560x1600 using max settings and 4xMSAA.
Far Cry 3: Performance increased by 4.1% at 1920x1080 using max settings and 8xMSAA.
Just Cause 2: Performance increased by 5% at 1920x1080 using max settings and 4xMSAA.
Metro 2033: Performance increased by 9% at 2560x1600 using High settings and AAA Anti-Aliasing.
Shogun 2: Total War: Performance increased by 3.7% at 1920x1080 using max settings and 4xMSAA.
Sniper Elite V2: Performance increased by 5.7% at 2560x1600 using max settings and AA High. With 2.25x Supersampling enabled, performance increased by 4.5%.
StarCraft II: Performance increased by 13.6% at 1920x1080 using max settings and 8xMSAA.
The Witcher 2: Performance increased by 3% at 2560x1600 using max settings.
Tomb Raider: Performance increased by 11.2% at 1920x1080 using Ultra settings and FXAA, and by 18.5% at 2560x1600. Using Ultimate settings and FXAA, performance increased by 7.4% at 1920x1080, and 17.2% at 2560x1600.

15 listed games for 680SLI. I'm guessing both sides pick their best gains but maybe not. NV does usually choose the 660/680 or the high end mobile is in there. Anyway loaded both (amd on mine, and NV on dads 8800GT yesterday)...No issues that I can see in either case. But neither is really game tested yet. If either of us crashes over the weekend I'll come back and update, but doubtful as both have always been rock solid since we got them for the most part.
