Cloud station actually sounds really cool for road warriors like myself. I can keep my laptop and desktop sync'd First thing I would do is sync my steam game save folders up since Steam's cloud save functionality isn't widely used yet. Sync'd game saves would be epic!
I was in the market for a NAS as a christmas gift for myself but the HDD price spike deterred me. Once that drops back down to normal later this year I may have to jump on a new Synology unit.
