Pretty neat but really, my concern is about how easy and cheap it is to get a wifi jammer and jamm the signal... You can get such a device for under 100$ (weaker ones).

The idea behind this is not for super criminals, its to catch home intrusions, random acts which is the majority of crimes. Most home thefts are random by people who just want valuables for drugs.

If you are worried about people with wifi jammers, you don't store that type of stuff in a home :P

@Ganesh can you ask them if it records stills? Or any motion sensitive ones in the works that will only record HD when motion is active? That will save tons of bandwidth.

Definitely.. Added the questions to the Dropcam page in my CES notebook :)

It was sounding good until I read that they took away the ethernet connectivity.

I agree on this point as well:
The absence of an option to store the video locally is a drawback with the Dropcam model. I had covered this in the Dropcam Echo review also. It would be nice to have a 720p resolution stream recorded locally, with the cloud receiving a lower resolution stream.

That thing is so shining, any dumb criminals could spot it a mile away.

The Dropcam HD is perfect timing for my current coding and home security project. I wanted to turn my computer and webcam into a surveillance system using some free software (based on this: <a rel='help' href="http://www.homesecuritysystems.net/webcam-surveill... ) the problem I ran into is that the low resolution camera i had didn't do any justice to getting a good shot of my home. When I was on my computer at work accessing my home's camera I couldn't see ANYTHING. Anyway, this solution is going to rock my world!

Dropcam is really good. This is actually one of my personal favorites. As a matter of fact, we also did a Dropcam Pro review here: http://topsecurityreview.com/reviews/
