Htc really needs to pull out a razr/galaxy nexus out its ass, its current design mimic's dozen's of older phones and brings nothing new to the table. Is there any htc phone that doesn't look like an incredible/evo 4g?
  • lmcd - Thursday, November 3, 2011 - link

The design was always pleasant, while durable and authentically HTC's own. Besides, HTC also has shiny gray designs it has used, though primarily not on Verizon. Pretty much any smartphone on Verizon, minus the white iPhone, is in black, mostly due to the DROID branding...

Besides, the phone itself is good. It's basically an upgraded Sensation for VZW.

You can always tell an HTC phone from the others and the shape and materials is pretty much tried and true in terms of comfort and build quality.

Stop being a fanboy because then you'll see that the other two phones have some flaws in their designs and specs as well.
  • shabby - Friday, November 4, 2011 - link

Im not talking about specs of design flaws, im talking about bringing something new to the table and not rehashing old designs.

Why change it when the design is solid and works? My Incredible has been dropped, hit and bumped all over the place and the only visible signs are a few scratches on the side, nothing at all on front or back, and my Inc was a refurbished one too so some of those scratches were already there. Same goes for my friends Evo, this design is strong and lasts so why deviate away from it to some unknown design that might be crap and ruin their reputation.

So much for the claim that Apple "sheeple" are the people who buy phones based on fashion and appearance...

HTC's SLCD screens have always been full RGB stripe, so hopefully that practice continues.

It looks nice, but why so thick? Does HTC just have a thing for portly phones?
  • agent2099 - Thursday, November 3, 2011 - link

This phone is THICK. Almost twice as thick as the RAZR. While the internals are nice, HTC should have focused more in the design of the phone. Having a thinner phone is even more important once you start talking about phones with these large screen sizes.

Well, with 3 new $299 phones, I think the one that drops the fastest in price will be the most popular. Like I've said in other forums, an iPhone 4s for $199 or and Android look alike for $299?

I've never had an Apple product, but the $199 price and speed has me thinking.
  • Omega215D - Thursday, November 3, 2011 - link

You fail to realize that they charge $299 for the 32GB iPhone while this phone has 16+16GB and the expansion slot can accommodate 32GB should 16GB card not be enough.

Also, this phone has an LTE chip, higher resolution and maybe some other things. The Droid Razr and Galaxy Nexus have their merits as well. It would be really nice to see this phone debut at $250 and great if it comes to $200 but one has to remember that we were paying north of $300 for a smart phone some time ago.

I'm pretty happy with snagging my T-bolt for $150 due to Verizon giving me some kind of loyalty discount or whatever that was.
  • vision33r - Friday, November 4, 2011 - link

So you're saying that $299 is justified because the phone has 16GB internal and a 16GB flash card.

Got news for you, 32GB iPhone 4S has 32GBs of NAND based SSD not some cheap Class 6 Flash memory.

LTE is not important as coverage is bad, Verizon has the worst data speed without LTE transmission.

    It's overpriced.
  • Camikazi - Friday, November 4, 2011 - link

Think their point was both come with 32GB, but you can upgrade this one to more space while you are stuck with what you buy on the Apple. As for speed, I have a Class 2 SD card in my Incredible and have no problems with copying or file move speed, yea SSD will be faster but really it's the same as the whole browser war, the difference really won't be noticed by normal users.

This is crazy how HTC is releasing an almost exact phone on different carriers with slight differences and under different names. screws up their branding, resale value, etc

why can't they just pick a name, make a phone and release it on all carriers under the same name like apple and samsung? i had an HTC inspire for 6 months and will probably not buy another HTC phone again. the resale value is crap due to their idiotic naming scheme. if i go android again it will most likely be samsung
  • Camikazi - Friday, November 4, 2011 - link

You mean like Samsung has the Fascinate, Captivate, Vibrant, Mesmerize, Epic, Continuum, Indulge, Showcase and a few others? All same basic phone with tiny differences for different carriers :P They seem to be changing that for the Galaxy S II, but they were not always that way.
  • Penti - Tuesday, November 8, 2011 - link

Samsung also redesigns their phones between different vendors, same for Motorola and the rest too basically and is something endemic to the US. Something that comes due to the network operators, different tech and so on. Basically the operators that rebrands them.

For example a Droid Razr is a Verizon phone, a Razr here in Europe is a 3G HSPA phone not LTE/CDMA, and it's Verizon that owns (licenses) the Droid naming.

If you like the Ice Cream Sandwich wallpapers I found a site that has them. It's formatted for mobile so they are easy to install. It's a pretty cool site, it has a ton of other free wallpapers as well. www.freedroidwallpaper.com

This phone is fantastic! I've had it for a week now, and it's everything I'd hoped it'd be.
The LTE data speeds are SICK; faster that my home wireless G network.

If you don't like the look of the stock HTC clock on the home slot of the (really awesome) 3D Sense carousel, you can remove it with ease. You really ought to try one of these phones out.

The HTC Incredible was a great phone to start with. It got better with time too, thank s to the Froyo release, and later to the unrEVOked team for finally getting it to root. The DEV community went nuts with this phone after that! The fact that so many of the ROM developers out there are STILL writing for that phone really says it all.

The reason why I included all that info on the Incredible is this: The Devs who have been creating the ROMs for the Incredible all this time have all (literally ALL of them) made the jump to work their magic on the Rezound. That really tells the story right there. The new version of Sense is positively gorgeous. It doesn't bog the phone down at all, thanks to the 1.5gHz dual core processor.

    The Rezound ROCKS.
