I dont see it in the article. The droid 3 has a 4 incg screen with a 5 row qwerty and is .51 inches thin. Any specs on the LG?

Other source says the phone is about 10.5mm thin

My bad, my source was GSMArena and th equoted thickness was actually 12.3mm.

This has a 4" IPS screen, 4-row QWERTY keyboard and comes in at 12.3mm (~0.48 inches), potentially making it the thinnest Android QWERTY slider.

This is totally OT regarding the optimus, but they are tauting QWERT, so not totally OT overall.
QWERTY was designed to reduce typing speed (to prevent typer head jamming). A smiply alphabetical keyboard is faster (if you haven't typed touch on QWERTY for several years). If you want to go fast, dworak is way better (and easier to learn if you don't know qwerty).

Kindly stop presenting popular misconceptions as facts, thanks.

QWERTY was not designed to reduce typing speed. It was designed to prevent jamming by preventing sequential keystrokes from happening on neighboring keys, not to slow down fast typists (who didn't even exist when QWERTY was designed since it was designed for the first typewriter and, y'know, it's hard for typists to exist before the actual typewriter).

Actually it was designed to slow down typist, if it was purposed as you say that make no sense as how many words in the dictionary are spelled with sequential alphabetical letters? I mean I like my Abcdef but I just never have to type that word and keep it behind closed doors.

QWERTY is designed slow typing to help prevent the arms of the keys from tangling with each other, but not from sequential keystrokes of an alphabetical layout.

This isn't a topic for debate. You're wrong. Google it. Here, I'll even do it for you:

You can find many other sites offering an identical history, minus the editorial on Dvorak at the end, which I happen to agree with. Bad typers type slow, good typers type fast, regardless of if they use QWERTY or Dvorak. If the market suddenly shifted and preferred Dvorak, I'd welcome it as it does offer some advantages. But, in the meantime, QWERTY is used everywhere and it's not worth the bother to try and use Dvorak in a QWERTY world.

"LG Optimus Q2 Unites QWERTY with Thin"

That's great - now which one's Qwerty and which one's Thin?
  • Goi - Tuesday, September 20, 2011 - link

That's sort of a deal breaker...a 4" qHD screen would've been much more acceptable.

    Really? Who gives a shit?
The Samsung Galaxy S II has a 4.3" 800x480 screen and has been constantly lauded as one of the best screens on a smartphone, as well as being one of the best smartphones.

    People are never fucking happy...

IPS is superior in close up.

    qhd pentile panels are garbage.

amoled is pretty, but you can still make up the matrix which is annoying at times.

    IPS...no dicernable matrix.
