Why do they need to even make the server UI like Windows 8??? If you are an admin, it should be expected we know our butt from our elbows when it comes to computing. We don't deserve to be treated like dolts as well.
I don't think it reduces what you need to know as an admin, but if a gui helps with functionality and getting things done faster, then I'm all for it. (Speaking from someone that was sick of using NT4 and 2000)
My take on it is to make the UI function no matter what you're interacting with or from. Much easier to admin your W8 server from your Windows phone if the UI on both are compatible. Haven't you tried admining a Windows server through some sort of rdp app on an iGadget or other smart phone tablet thingy and found you can't click and drag or some such?
While I am all about a well designed server interface as it allows quicker and easier day to day management, I hope microsoft has not forgotten about the command line. I was thrilled when they expanded this in Vista/7. The interfaces provided by WMI and ADSI are powerful, I hope they have expanded this with Windows 8/Server 8.
