Their recent qHD releases are pentile so it's a possibility that this one is too. It's probably more likely since it also has LTE so the power savings from the pentile display makes sense.
LTE may be a bit power hungry but it isn't as bad as it was initially made out to be as my recent radio update for my Thunderbolt proves to me or the recent Galaxy Tab 10.1 review shows.
Still, after all the waiting I would hope Motorola installed a better screen on it. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
I got rid of my cell phone and I'm so happy. Paying $100.00 a month for internet, text messaging, and a limited amount of phone calls is such a a waste of money. I could put that $100 a month towards a little vacation every year, or fixing up my house, or buying something nice. Cell phones and cell phone companies are a rip off. Don't buy this garbage.
I agree - the only reason I have a smartphone is that my work pays for it. They don't pay for my wife's phone, so she has a Virgin Mobile smartphone - $25/mo for "unlimited" text and data, and 300 minutes of talk time. I was lucky to get the LG Optimus V phone for $99 when it first came out.
We are still throwing $40/mo away on a landline phone , so I plan on soon replacing that with Ooma for about $4 month.

It all depends on how you look at it. First of all if you try to work your angles and deals you can get pricing alot better. I work with sprint. I grabbed my parents and put them on my family plan. We all pay less than $60 per month on average to use our phones as much as we want in any way possible and that includes insurance. We also all have top of the line modern smartphones epics and evos. In exchange for that we did not need to buy any GPS or update maps, we do not need tablets and we get to save money by purchasing desktops instead of laptops. We dropped the land lines and only use mobile phones. Anytime I goto a hotel I do not buy their garbage internet. Most people have a cell phone anyway so its not like $100 is the price just for data you still need to pay for the phone. We also save money and time, if I see a sale or want to know about prices I can look that up for products and gas, check out reviews in the store instead of buying something getting it home then hating it and needing to return it. The value of a phone with a data plan goes way beyond just the apparent cost. Sometimes you need to spend more to save more.
Also while I do not fit in this catagory alot of people do very little on a computer other than email web surfing and facebook and all of those people could skip a computer altogether and not buy an internet connection at home. The only device they need is a smart phone with a data plan.
These are the reason data plans are exploding in popularity not just because people are idiots. Alot of people think it through pretty carefully, other do not.

Woah, while I do mostly agree, these ARE $500-$600 phones, and if you wanted the US to be more like Europe and Asia in that sense, it'll cost way over $300 for a top of the line phone such as this. And phones here would need to be global/dual mode phones for that system to work out. It is possible and would make it a lot cheaper monthly, but why would the cell companies want to change that? There are way too many people in this country who depend on their phone daily, also for business and work, for the majority to "stop giving them money till they get their shit together". If only it were simple...

I, for example, need my smartphone. My girlfriend is on vacation in morocco and she has an internet connection there. I can call her through skype WHENEVER i want, or text her through an instant messenger. Love to see you do that on a regular "dumb"phone. I'm not a camera expert, but I would think that there will never be a point where the MP of the camera would be irrelevant. The more detail that can be processed through the lens, the higher the resolution can be for the image captured through it.
Megapixels does not equal quality - so higher resolution cameras with very small light sensors and cheaply made small lenses will just produce poor/barely acceptable images that contain more pixels.
Totally agree with you. I was sort of implying that as the pixel processing capabilities of the camera increases, so does the quality of the lens and other camera related mechanics. Thus, all things improving equally, you theoretically have an infinite level of detail that you capture increasing MP. I'm being hypothetical as I do not know what the physical limitations are or other sorts of issues that hinder this process.
Is SAMOLED+ ruled out as a possibility for the display, seeming as how its not a Samsung device? I feel a phone like this is wasted if its not SAMOLED+.

Ahh yes, I go through phases. the last smart phone I had was with a Palm OS. Then I got sick of the costs and went cheap pay as you go.The droid 1 hooked me though, it's more than just internet, GPS, games, music, etc. all in one device.
But like you I'm thinking I'd rather have the $100 a month (my smart phone and my wife dumb phone on big red).

At what point would the MP of the camera not matter? Wouldn't the small lens eventually limit how good the pictures can be?The high price is disappointing - however I'm guessing it will drop quickly when no one buys it.
