I just downloaded the demo. Without survival mode and normal multiplayer it just isn't any fun. I think there are going to be alot of dissapointed Xperia Play users.
I figure they wanted it out the door as swiftly as possible and using Alpha as an excuse means they can test the Android waters before putting too much work in.
Minecraft's also notoriously unstable after updates. Maybe they are putting the bulk of their time into keeping it stable before adding the buggier elements.

Also the download was only 1.6 mb. With the game running free system memory was around 150 mb. Makes me wonder why they couldn't fit in survival mode.Craig Getting - Tuesday, August 16, 2011 - link
