So I'll be working on the full post on this shortly (won't be brief) but I will say a few things. First, yes, there is lock-in here. If Tab owners want to get future updates they will get TouchWiz, no two ways about it. But, that might not be the worst thing ever.
Welcome to Android, where the user's desires play second fiddle to the manufacturer's desire to "differentiatate" from the pile of other Android devices.
Samsung just doesn't seem to learn. They create a new skin for the TouchWiz and they make it look like the OS X dock? One wonders if the legal department and the Product Development team are on different planets
