That depends entirely upon your usage scenarios, I've gotten almost 10 days from my Xperia arc and still been at over 25% battery left.
Granted, that's with the phone spending the vast majority of the time just laying there but that's sort of the point. If you use your phone a lot, gaming, watching video, websurfing or whatever then none will last a week.
that is a flatout lie. I have an experia Arc. with Wifi off, gps: off, dataroaming: off, datatraffic: off, screenbrightness on 50%, max time: 9 hours. 9....hours. that's without even using the phone. it's just laying there. so when you say 10 hours, then I commend you on your fantastic powermanagement. when you say 10 DAYS ...you're lying. or you're "using" it in flight mode.
also coming from an Iphone 3G: the greatest mistake I ever made was choosing android. it looks nice, but that's just a small layer of chrome. scratch the surface and you get .... crashes, hangs, no battery life, poor FM reception, more crashes. granted: most crashes are caused by stupid apps.
it reminds me of good old win95. the blue screens are replaced with pop up boxes.
this was a one time deal: never again 'droid. it just blows. and don't get me started on the memory "management" (clearing memory when you need it, not before) that design decision makes sure that every HD video your recording stutters and hangs in the first 5 secs. (unless you use a task killer every time your going to record a movie) or the idiotic decision about the default install location of apps (internal memory, never SD) it's just so ..... dumb. the OS is full of it: it's just not very mature.
I have a Nokia E72 with one of the largest batteries in the Nokia lineup. That phone only lasts 5.5-6 days on STANDBY. If I use it to browse the internet and to make phone calls, I can waste it in 4-6 hours no problem. So your claims of a phone "lasting 1 week" with actual usage on 1 battery charge are wishful thinking.

Yes, OMAP3 is very outdated, but in Q3/2010 it might have been ok.

If you look at the demo videos closely, you'll see that even the 3D scroll in Nokia maps is awfully choppy by modern days standards.

Colleague of mine is running Freerunner Neo as his work phone, and I'm planning to buy one of the kits based upon GTA4 when those come available. Neo can be obtained for 200€ with hardware JTAG support.
Only one's creativity limits what you one do by it. It's not for app writers nor marketplacers, but for serious developers or people who want to be sure their mobile is not phoning home every other second.
Because the Freerunner hardware is ages behind what is otherwise available on the market. GPRS for data at best, which is sad, and lackluster battery life.
The GTA04 has yet to see the light of day, and at their current pace -might- have EDGE support.
The N900, combined with the MeeGo CE, is a device whose OS is fully in control of the owner, and has been on the market for the better part of two years.
I'll be amazed if the GTA04 ever gets off the ground, and even more amazed if it's anywhere near equivalent to phones from two years ago.
The prototype batch of GTA4 is sold out but they choose to make a new layout to solve EMI issues. If you mean retail availability of the boards, that might take few months still.
It has wlan and BT which is good enough for me.
Less the camera and radio chip part the HW is comparable to N8 or iPhone 3GS. It's not bleeding edge stuff but I doubt no community driven project could ever get access to the latest HW anyway.
This was a phone I was eagerly waiting for before the whole Nokia make over. The design is fantastic and I'm sure the build will be equally good. I'm even willing to forego the slightly outdated hardware. But who would want to buy a phone running an OS that the manufacturer has already said it will no longer support?
Nokia should fire it's entire PR and marketing team. A case of them shooting themselves in both feet by:
1) Announcing that their future is WP7 with no WP7 phone ready any time soon. 2) Announcing that Meego will no longer be supported and that N9 will be the last Meego phone - Before the phone is even released!
Agree to both your points. Announcing the Windows thing as well as the dropping Meego almost a year before they have a Windows Phone out was just mind-blowing

During high inflation in the market, A demand of android and smart phones increased periodically. I have noticed that a prestige of nokia phones goes up. But sadly recommend that i couldn't find this phone in my town.
I have a question... I see no signs of any Flash support for the browser in both N9 & N950. Is it coming with full flash support like N900 or will we have a step backwards in this? HTML5 is fine, but a lot of sites are still running over flash apps.
unfortunately N950 is not planned to be released to resale. It's developer community platform and sort of a reward for their efforts. Most likely all N950 devices are given out for developers for free.
I notice that the N9 seems to have the same design earpiece as the N8. If it's the same, and they have reused most of the N8 hardware, then it's crap. I have an N8 and the maximum earpiece volume is woefully bad, so bad that the phone is unusable in noisy environments. The photos don't show the back of the units, but if that also like the N8 then there's another problem. The loudspeaker design on the N8 is also seriously flawed - lay the phone faceup on a soft surface and it's completely inaudible. Don't know what's going on with Nokia (their older phones' volume was great), but they need to put their finger out when it comes to hardware design and usability with newer models!
I am aware that I'm a far from typical phone user and don't buy apps so I'm not a good market target either, BUT I will spend a lot of money on good and fairly open hardware. I have an N900 and it is by far the best phone / pocket computer I've ever had or seen. I primarily use it to run Mappero with openstreetmap.org maps and UK OS maps and the GPS. Another favorate is Aarddict (a dictionary application I use to search and read wikipedia from a database dump without needing an internet connection). I also run some python apps of my own writing and use it as a media player.
The only thing I'd like improving in a next gen device is 1) Longer battery life. 2) Faster GPS position fix. 3) transflective screen. It is easily fast enough for everything I want.
My apologies if the above seems irrelevant, but its an example of an atypical user case which open devices can be made to fit. It makes me very sad to think that there probably wont be a device as good for my needs made in the near future.
It's a damn sweet design. Maybe if the trillion+apps & dual-quad-hexa 3G/4G lets get a new phone because my old one sucks, trend stops, Nokia could sell this. But...
