It would seem that reviews of iThings and cellphones draw in more readers then PC component reviews. At least now we can look forward to a video card review on Thursday!
Ultimately it was worth posting for us because it allowed us to tell you when the NDA expires. I know there were rumors about the 22nd, so setting the record straight lets you guys know when to expect the article.
So essentially, a significantly downclocked (160MHz core, 320MHz shader, 588MHz RAM)) pair of 580s. At stock speeds, two 570s should theoretically outpace this, though at super high resolutions and detail levels, the new card may get a leg-up on its SLi competition due to the extra memory.
I can't see it being competitive with the 6990, but we'll see in two days. Perhaps NVIDIA don't want to compete directly, and only want a killer solution at a particular price point. Looking forward to the reviews.
Meaning it's too long for the box, so it has to be positioned diagonally to fit. The box doesn't look amazingly long, and yet quite a bit too tall, to fit a 11-12" card.
Maybe NVIDIA have something very special/innovative in store.
Here let me translate this video from marketing speak, it says...
"Look, we know Crysis 2 comes out today, but our new video card doesn't come out for 2 more days. I know we're running a bit late but please don't buy an ATI card yet. C'mon, please? It's only 2 days! Just wait a little longer. You can use the extra time to carefully read the Crysis 2 instruction manual... and to scrounge up about $800 or so. Don't ask, just do it. Okay? Good. See you Thursday, and don't forget to bring the briefcase of cash."
As many people have said there was no word whatsoever on the Vertex 2 25nm issue, but they do take their time to post a Nvidia commercial.
That's just how it is here now.
People call this "suspense" and say they are "excited", but all they are doing is letting themselves be manipulated by marketing departments that only want your cash. Yes, that is what we have come to.
Now imagine what would happen if the next frontpage news was an Intel commercial of an empty box with the text: "Random 4k writes was, until the year 2011, the most sacred of all HD criteria"
Btw: How can i post my personal comment on the frontpage?
Yes it is. I'm still trying to figure out why a stupid pr youtube video is front page news? Nothing special except PR marketing. Why did anand post this for?
The bacon wins at 720p and 1080p. Excellent. Just the purpose for this card. Wins 20 of the 40 bm. Lets call it a draw. Way to go. Buy it ! its not so noisy as the 6990!!! Real suspense
Yeaa. Even more inefficient that the 5xx series, that was more inefficient than the 2xx series, that was more inefficient than 8xxx series. Real progress. With a lot of marketing words around it. That just shows us that a lot reviewers needed to tell NV to get their act together, but choose the opposite. Woop. More suspense.
Do you get paid per ad(like in this case), by a certain number of ads, or a one time payment for a year or longer?
I need to advertise for my product, nBacon, but the product is really crappy, so I had to invent cool names describing it like: nBacon SurroundBacon6D and BacX, to try to offload the crap, but it doesn't work out.
Since you are selling "editorial articles"(hahaha let the mf's be fooled..) to nVidia, maybe you can sell your soul to me to.
Since my products are shit, and can't measure up to the competition, I will make a once off, liquid helium cooled, will fail in one hour special gLh,WtF,Gs edition, that you can compare to my competitors normally cooked bacon. It will be priced at $0.1, but hey, I will only make one so you can have it for free(And a lot of cash for you)(of course I will say it is widely available to the idiot consumers)
BTW, is "Ryan Smith" the other name for Keysplayer or Apoppin?

Almost all current PC games are being watered down to support 5 year crap console HW. You don't need to spend more than $200 on a single video card to run almost all games at max settings - now including Crysis 2. About the only thing you will be able to throw at this card to see what it is capable of is benchmarks.
OK, I'll admit it. I'm a sucker for new flagship tech. Even though it's overpriced, I'll never have one, and not the most elegant combination of performance and power I can't keep myself from anticipating the release of new top-of-the-line stuff.
Ryan, if possible, could you manage to do something with this review using Crysis 2? Preferably a short 30sec video or something on a large screen?
2xx,4xx and 5xx series cards over the past 2 years, the 5xx are like 2 months old aren't they? Am I getting old and out of the loop? I've got a 5850 and it seems pretty damn good in high detail 1920x1200 :/
Also - for the love of christ Anandtech, please save the cookie for the comments here? Something is broken - maybe it's the java or something, I don't know but it never remembers my account - use a different login box where firefox can actually save it!

Still waiting for something better than 8800GT aka 9800GT aka 250GT.Everything since then has been nothing more than "maybe if we throw another 100 watts of power at it we can make it go faster".
Didn't Intel have this philosophy with its CPU's around 5 years ago with the P4?
Show me a modern VGA card with double the framerate of an 8800GT with the same power draw, then I'll get excited.
