    No faith in "OS on tap"? :)

    Imagine a client hypervisor coupled with a backup/update service where since your OS is running on a hypervisor on you client machine if it breaks or you upgrade, you just move your entire VM over to the new hardware.

    And with bandwidth becoming cheaper you could probably keep your VM-image synced with an encrypted copy located with Apple/Microsoft/Google/whoever. Who for a small monthly fee has your entire machine backed up, and possibly managed.

    Or run Windows / Linux at the same time and toggle between them the same way you would and application today. And either share files between them or keep them completely separated for security.

    Take a look at Citrix XenClient for example. If they get their way you'll have a hypervisor on every motherboard which is just a toggle in BIOS / UEFI away. All they need to do is manage to remove any significant perfomance-hits for 3D graphics and I'm sold. :)

    I see no evidence that ThinDownload's apps are sandboxed; they're just setup to run without being fully installed; they can still read/write your disks, etc.

    The articles regarding virtualization are great and they answered many questions for me and many others.

    @Anand
    Considering that this site is the authority on SSDs and also provides an insight into virtualization, I think it will be a good idea to have an article that talks about both. I would like to see:
    - how much do SSDs improve pefrormance when hosting VMs (benchmarks using SLC and MLC SSDs)
    - how well is TRIM supported by ESXi and Xen Server (or when it will be supported)
    - how well supported are SSDs by Dell and HP on their RAID controllers (Dell Perc H700 and HP Smart Array P410)
    - long term considerations like life expectancy, wear leveling, and garbage collection

    Hi, there

    Does anyone suggest me some laptop for virtulization. I have to work with the VMware workstation, and my old laptop isn't working as expected. I want to run five VMs simultaneously, which processor, memory and storage should I go with. I have read some blog and find the Lenovo Thinkpad E590 as per my budget is limited. I have read several guides such as: https://picklaptop.com/best-laptops-vmware/

    There are many laptops out there and I am so confused right now, according to the above website this laptop can handle more than 4 virtual machine, could anyone confirm, that it's the right laptop to go with as per my requirements.

    Thanks in advanced!

    Virtualization is a concept in computing wherein we hide the real resources and the complexities of their implementation from end-users, for various benefits such as security, optimization, consolidation, etc. There is someone who writes an article on this, maybe someone found this appropriate, here is the link: https://laptopified.com/best-laptop/best-laptops-f...
