The netbooks have been available here in Canada for some time now and also in the US at amazon.com. Not sure why Acer is on a frenzy of reannouncing already available products.
What about the performance of N550. Is it any good for Windows 7 HomePremium with enabled Aero and descent "not want to throw it over the window" performance?
Got mine off newegg, so they're around. Thing is amazing for what you are paying for, and as long as you aren't expecting an outrageous gaming rig. Mild gaming is possible, though if you are a true gamer it might be painful to subdue to netbook gaming from a nice rig ;)
Honestly, I'm a network admin, and the way netbooks are going, with an SSD and another hour or two out of those AMD netbook/ATI gpu models, and maybe 6 months to get a slightly faster processor and wouldn't 4gb be nice? I would totally replace any sort of work machine with this--it's lighter, most of us have usb-serial devices for getting into consoles so the lack of a serial port makes it no less attractive for work than it does for home use. HDMI OUT IS AWESOME.....I got mine for $260, but it was priced at $330 at the time :)

They might have changed the color and added a crappier LCD. That's what to be expected right?AstroGuardian - Monday, October 4, 2010 - link
