does anyone know who the rebate for 90 dollars is through for the Coolermaster COSMOS? The only rebate that I am aware of is the 75 dollar one through newegg.
Guys, I was hoping you had included a good NAS review/buying guide in this one.
Most of my family and friends are in need of one, as am I (before Xmas).
I haven't been able to find a good review on NAS anywhere, and the 1TB I have on my N4100 Thecus is about full now.
With so much HD out, the average P2P user must also be in need of this...file sizes have more than tripled in recent months.
I'm especially interested in a centralized NAS that everyone in the house can share (for media, backups, common files, etc...). Raid 5 would be great.
IMHO it's the best case ever for the money, few things about it:
- it has mounts for 140mm fans: one on the bottom, two on the side and two on the top, the mounts will also accept 120mm fans, this allows for quiet yet cool design
- not obvious at first, this case has a clever design trick: by using holes and various cutouts in the wall and extra space below the motherboard tray so that you can hide almost all cables by running them through the space below the mobo tray, including the thick main power cable
However, this case is designed with SATA in mind, it'd be very hard to run ribbon cable in it. But with SATA you can build a machine with nearly all the cables hidden: neat and improves cooling.
I browse the EVGA forums alot in the 8-series section and the Antec 850 Quattro is known to have serious issues with the 8800GT cards and is expected to have the same issues with the G92 core GTS. Antec knows of this issue and is working on it, a search in either of their forums will bring up multiple posts on this issue.
Basically, if you plan to use any newer graphics cards, avoid the Antec 850 Quattro unless you know the PSU's problems have been resolved.
And as a sidenote; no ThermaleTake's recommended? Their 750 Modular runs great with a 640GTS, and people are known to be running stable on the 650 with GT's SLI'd and Quad Cores.
Biased by mentioning a couple other Antec cases? Or biased because we didn't include a third? Anyway, we added it on the "other options" list at the bottom now. :)
The Antec Earthwatts 380 is down to only $14.99 after the $30 MIR. And do the Hiper PSUs include a USB hub? Or do you need to have enough motherboard headers to run all those USB ports?
Every Centurion 5 I have used ( 5 I think, from Newegg and CompUSA) has had a 120mm fan at the back and an 80mm at the front, not the pair of 120mm you mention.
And it looks like you have the same Lite-On optical drive listed twice at the end.
I actually own that drive and love it. However, the last reply I had from LG was that it might be going end of life now. Looking at the retailers and distributor stock dates, it appears that way to me. I am still trying to get confirmation from the US branch at this time. You are right, it deserves to be on the list. It's just that we tried to find items that were stocked or at least would be during this month.
I have no idea, but does anything in the optical drive market make sense anymore. ;) I have a call with LG in a couple of hours and will get the straight scoop on it. It could be a glitch in the distributor system or a HQ reply that meant something else entirely than, "This drive is being replaced and no more stock is available." I just cannot believe it would be canceled this early in the game. It is the prize drive in my personal HTPC and we were getting ready to recommend it in the upcoming HTPC guide.

Dang it, I just bought that case from El Egg for $170 with $50 rebate. Should have checked more prices online. Looks like I overspent by $50:(strikeback03 - Wednesday, November 28, 2007 - link

Errm, you need only one USB connector at the mainboard and the rest is done internally in the PSU.DigitalFreak - Wednesday, November 28, 2007 - link
I would add the LG GGC-H20N to your optical drives list. It's in short supply at the moment, but when you can find it it's around $299Gary Key - Wednesday, November 28, 2007 - link

Gary, that drive just came out a couple of weeks ago and has been selling like hotcakes everywhere it's stocked. Why would LG discontinue it now?Gary Key - Wednesday, November 28, 2007 - link

After some checking, it seems the H20N is the non-Lightscribe version. The H20L (with Lightscribe) should probably still be available.
