I have mixed feelings on buying now. DDR4 started out at 2133 speeds and ended up at JEDEC 3200 IIRC. So current DDR5 might be very underwhelming in about 1 year or so.
Also, at least for the current gen ryzen chips, you don't really want to go beyond DDR5 6000 because of the way the timing works with the Infinity Fabric and the memory controller. Going past the point causes IF to drop down in speed and negates the benefit of the faster memory speeds.
I've make it a rule to double speeds before picking up the next gen, as in SDR-200, DDR-400, DDR2-800, DDR3-1600, DDR4-3200. Now I'm waiting for Ryzen to support DDR5-6400 before I buy into the AM5 platform.
No surprises here. Food and shelter are major concerns with inflation where it is at the moment for a lot of people and if anyone has taken a gander at the Steam's current shovelware garbage releases lately, it sort of makes sense that no one is interested in buying computer parts. There are a few people out there who are still interested in gaming, but a lot more people have shifted focus to essentials. Add that to companies generally preparing to muddle through recession and there's just not much demand for computer hardware.

By the time DDR5 speeds are not increasing any more there will be a transition to DDR6. That's the way of technological advancement.kpb321 - Saturday, April 8, 2023 - link

It'll always get better.I currently have 0 issues playing games at 144 fps on a 5800x3d with 3200 mhz ddr4. No reason to upgrade.
If you are looking into a DDR5 build, just go with 6000 ddr5 and ryzen. It'll last you a LOGN time, by which DDR6 will be out.

I wouldn't use Samsung's flash to store my logs, they should write down the whole operation.Dante Verizon - Tuesday, April 11, 2023 - link
What are you talking about? Samsung is remarkably one of the best, if not the best ram and nand flash memory makersPeachNCream - Monday, April 10, 2023 - link

The "they took mah video cards" crowd is still out there unfulfilled. And now card prices are the same as the rest of the system combined.
