I'd like to see someone (ASRock? Supermicro?) use these Ryzen Pro 5000 CPUs in a _desktop_ motherboard, like AOpen used to do with its "MoDT" motherboards. Features I'd want: ECC RAM support, four full-size DIMMs, multiple PCIe slots wider than x1 (v3.0 fine with me). Bonus points if could be powered with 19VDC rather than ATX PSU.
Why not just get a desktop APU? If you want lower power consumption, just set it to one of the lower cTDP levels in BIOS.
19VDC power would also be somewhat problematic when coupled with PCIe slots, as you'd need to convert at least 75W of 12VDC for each x16 slot, and 25W for each x1 slot, necessitating some pretty beefy on-board VRMs. Of course you can just buy a HDPlex PSU setup to power pretty much any pc off 19V.

They probably have some sort of exclusivity deal with Intel, I think some of their gaming line like the G5 15 SE is on AMD. Ohh and some of their Inspirion stuff is on AMD as well I'm not super familiar with that line but I'm assuming it's kinda targeted at whatever HP Envy product since pricing seems similar from what I see.
None of the machines are pin socketed. Just the usual fluff of Intel BGA filth same, after 5 years the HW will be obsoleted hard. While the old days of Intel until Haswell had a socketed SKU lineup. Now the batteries are also scarce, after a fixed cycles with no respect to a desktop mode or such which Alienware used to pack, the cells will wear out and bam. Btw does any one remember the MXM era ? It was amazing, some are still having it but sadly the form factors and standards have been abandoned for profit.
$2500-3500 notebook becoming a paperweight. Better invest in a Desktop with mITX and portable Display with wireless KB/M, unfortunately for the on the go need you must buy a use and throw laptop no matter what Android could step in for your portable needs but with the filesystem getting castrated and limited scope of the Applications, this is the only option left.
Go with a Mac you will even end up with a soldered SSD lol, that's even more dumb, But I guess that T2 security chip or whatever blackbox is makes one at peace.

The feature I'd want to see most on these parts is SVE or encryption support for local VMs.The hardware is all there, but they only enable that feature on EPIC parts, which IMHO is a big mistake.
