The mi11 supports Wifi6 at 160Mhz+4096QAM, therefore it can obtain a connection of up to 2.8Gbps, even a bit faster than the 2.4Gbps of P40Pro and Mate40Pro. Also, it can be tested that mi11's sustained performance is way more better than Galaxy S21Ultra because of the vapor chamber it inncluded. Last but not least, the 55w charging is a little faster than the 66w charginng of the Huawei Mate40Pro when it come to real life test!
This abomination has a screen only 5% smaller than a OG Nexus 7, how are you suposed to be able to use this as a phone?
And why do they see the NEED to increase screen size year after year. This was ok when the phones increased in screen size while getting rid of bezzels, but now any increase in screen size is a direct increase on overall phone size.
I wish they kept the MI9 SE in production. Finding a sub 6 inch phone that doesn't suck is getting harder and harder. And yes, even that phone size would have been bigger than the OG phablets.
It's still pretty damn big - the Mi 11 has display surface area of ~ 17.354 in^2, while the 2013 nexus 7 has ~ 22.148 in^2. My Pixel XL (2016) has just 12.723 in^2.
Display surface area doesn't really cover the actual size of the device, though - the Nexus 7 has a lot of bezels around that display, and the Mi 11 doesn't, so the physical size comparison is very different from just the display (the Mi 11 is around half the size). Your Pixel XL also has rather large bezels - the Mi 11 is 105% of its physical size, and that difference is entirely represented by the height of the device; the width is nearly identical.
The straight Pixels are a nice size and typically quite light. The 3 is a pretty good phone. Battery life could be better but it seems to have gotten a little bit better of late. It lasts me a day.
1) The Nexus 7 had a body size of 22,800mm² - the Mi 11 is 12,257mm². Nearly half the area. 2) The current increases are mostly from a shift in aspect ratio - the devices are taller now. 3) The Mi 9 SE is about 16% smaller in area than the Dell Streak and the Galaxy Note 2 - some of the OG Phablets - but more crucially it's a whole centimetre less wide. So, no, the Mi 9 SE wasn't bigger than them.
I'd agree with your point for the most part, but if someone's already on a fairly recent SoC - say, the Snapdragon 855 - it does dilute the incentive to upgrade when there was a bit of a retrograde step in terms of sustainable performance and battery life under load.
But then again, at that point I'd say it would be silly to upgrade anyway. I'm on an SD835 device and it's doing just fine.

have you ever stopped to ask "should my phone download that quickly, and do i benifit from this?" the answer is 99.999999% of the time no :)iphonebestgamephone - Wednesday, February 10, 2021 - link
The sustained performance is higher because xiaomi allows the phone to get a few degrees hotter than samsung.wr3zzz - Monday, February 8, 2021 - link
Do we really need 3200x1440 on a 6" screen?erinadreno - Monday, February 8, 2021 - link
You might not but someone does. And keep in mind you usually hold your smartphone way closer to the eye, so higher PPI helps.Death666Angel - Monday, February 8, 2021 - link
Don't speak for "we", just speak for yourself. And this is closer to 7" than 6".Wereweeb - Monday, February 8, 2021 - link

Speak for yourself - I can easily tell the difference between a 6.8" screen at 1080p and at 1440p when it uses a Pentile matrix.Sharma_Ji - Monday, February 15, 2021 - link

A pentile 1080 can show some jagged edges on some thin lines and font at that size. This might make everything super sharp.shabby - Monday, February 8, 2021 - link

This is vastly smaller than a Nexus 7. The much taller aspect ratio and much smaller bezels make more of a difference than you realize.Spunjji - Friday, February 12, 2021 - link

There is no real improvement compared to 865 in terms of battery life, if they'd gone with TSMC 7nm would have been better. That said, they probably didn't due to supply issues, and even Samsung is having issues if you look at Nvidia supply.
