A typo in the spec sheet? The 1135G7 is an i5, not an i7.
  • antonkochubey - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

Also the display is definitely IGZO, not UGZO :p
  • brontes - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

UGZO is a self-powering design. You might even say its the new hotness.
  • DigitalFreak - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

"4G LTC (up to 150 Mbps) on selected models" LTC? LOL

Come on Gavin, what's with all the typos and incorrect information? Are you guys trying to win a race to the bottom with WCCFTech or something?
  • Sunrise089 - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

1920x1080 definitely isn’t 16:10 either. The smaller resolution display is either 16:9 with a bottom bezel or is 1920x1200.
  • eveisascam - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

By the time this is released, TL will be old news. They are telling people to preorder what is new hardware now and saying it will be released when new technology will be available.
  • ArcadeEngineer - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

It says shipping by the end of Q4, i.e. this month.
  • eveisascam - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

That's incorrect. The estimated shipping is Q3 2021, and knowing the history of the company, there will be delays pushing it to Q4 2021 or Q1 2022. Read all about their issues on the subreddit R/evev
  • DigitalFreak - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

Sounds like they should have started work on this a lot earlier. Launching in Q1, maybe Q2 2021 would have made it a competitor, but Q4/Q1 2022 is 12th gen CPU territory.
  • Tams80 - Thursday, December 3, 2020 - link

    That's not their plan.

But it is the sort of cock-up that has become expected of them.
  • Spunjji - Tuesday, December 15, 2020 - link

There's also no way in hell that they will get anything like peak performance from TL in this form-factor.

Intel spent years trimming their chips down from the joke that was crammed into the original Surface Pro until they had something that could perform reasonably within a 15W TDP, and now they've gone right back to the beginning again.

    “13.4 Inch 16:10 1920 x 1080”

    99/100: a typo.
1/100: EVO is courageously moving beyond legacy square pixels (on its lower-res screen only)

Joking. They sound like a good hardware builder. Let’s see what people say about their service / repair performance.
  • tipoo - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

Were the first gen any good? My impression was the customer service bit was typically lacking as a new company.
  • eveisascam - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

The first gen were riddled with problems if anyone managed to get one. Customer support was/is terrible. Some people sent devices for repair and never received them back.
  • skavi - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

    "eveisascam"
  • s.yu - Sunday, December 13, 2020 - link

I say the complaints look legit. For such a small company they certainly have whole lot of negative publicity, they don't seem to actually pose a threat to any competitor in the near term, so the likely assumption is that they have a very large proportion of highly unsatisfied customers.
I got bit by VAIO's bloated battery(in a device I bought 4 years ago) and since then I would mention it under almost every single VAIO article I come across.
  • DigitalFreak - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

Looked up their Gen 1 product. It used a 7000 series CPU and launched (12/2017) after the 8000 series devices were available (08/2017). That's just sad.
  • eveisascam - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

These people have not delivered all of the first gen Vs and hundreds of people are still waiting for refunds.

Why are you posting an advertisement for them?
  • bi0logic - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

The EVE V official faq says that it will start shipping Q3 2021.

By the time this starts shipping next year tiger lake will be about a year old.
There may be a better intel cpu/chipset by then.
  • S.D.Leary - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

Please verify specs. Not only the issue of processor, but screen resolution. Lower end option is listed as 1920x1080 with a 16:10 aspect. Are they stretching the image, do they have larger borders (top and bottom) under the protective surface, or is the resolution 1920x1200 (as it should be for that aspect)??

For those who are conspiracy-minded, Eve is hard up for cash and is hoping Eve V preorders to pay for their upcoming Spectrum monitor launch.

For those who aren't, the R&D part of Spectrum has probably been done, giving their team time to start to work on a new project.

The truth's probably somewhere between them, but it is worth saying that the Spectrum's last update came in October, when they insisted that monitors would ship by "late December" [which just meats their Q4 2020 timeframe] - but that those who preordered would have 8 weeks before shipping to pay for the balance of their purchases, and AFAIK none have been asked to pony up so far.
  • Flunk - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

A Surface Pro might be a good alternative to this, one that will ship tomorrow and you can actually use.
  • phatboye - Wednesday, December 2, 2020 - link

The spectrum ship date got pushed back to Q1 2021 that is why they have not asked people to pay for pre-orders.
  • Spunjji - Tuesday, December 15, 2020 - link

So they're definitely angling for some cashflow in the intervening time period, then.
  • bananaforscale - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

Gen EVE V sounds suspiciously like GenIVIV, and anyone who's played Borderlands 3 should remember how insane she was. :D
  • skavi - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

Good price. The battery capacity is impressive, hopefully it won't be too thick.
  • DigitalFreak - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

HDMI 1.4b? Intel GPUs have been able to output HDMI 2.0 for at least a couple years now.
  • lilkwarrior - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

USB4 has pretty much all modern resolutions covred.
  • MDD1963 - Tuesday, December 1, 2020 - link

    Display- "13.4" 4K (3840 x 2400)...." Oh, now that makes tons of sense...! :/
  • Fly-by-EVE - Thursday, December 3, 2020 - link

Do not trust this company. EVE has not refunded the people that paid for but never received the first gen EVE V. They will steal your money and lie to you. I was one of those people that lost $2100 US by this corrupt company.
  • John Gorman - Thursday, December 3, 2020 - link

WARNING: THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES: DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!
I ordered an Eve-V in 2018 and after 12 months of ducking and weaving, they changed the company name slightly, dis-owned my order and kept my money. I am thousands out of pocket. Save your cash and buy from a reputable brand.
  • Tams80 - Thursday, December 3, 2020 - link

    Lol, no.

Eve Tech are not a trustworthy company.

They can bugger off and take that AES 2.0 shite with them.
  • Vitor - Wednesday, December 16, 2020 - link

    16:10 sweet.
  • hanselltc - Wednesday, December 23, 2020 - link
