For me, no water proofing is a hard no. Pretty much every phone has decent enough screen and processor to handle the usual apps ( I don't game on the phone) but with a toddler in the house, water resistance is a must as they love watching cartoons and games in the phone.
In my experience, 2x zoom lens is practically useless in the age of high megapixel sensors. If there must bee a zoom lens, makes it at least 5x. A wide + extra wide + macro will cover 99.9% of the use cases. The high quality main wide lens can cover 2x portrait lens by cropping in easily.

Phone design teams and executives: please design a phone that has no compromises and all the important features, then we will gladly pay $1400 or whatever ridiculous price you set.

On top this bullshit Pixel phones have ridiculous Filesystem blocks, Pixel 2 started with A/B slotting, ruining modding, then with Pixel 3 they fucked up by making the paritions fused like /boot /recovery are fused and causing havoc. Then with Pixel 4 fucking ext4 itself is a read only just like Huawei CCP control maniac garbage.
To make matters even worse the damn OS itself is nuked, the Filesystem on Android 10 and 11 has SAF + Scoped Storage, meaning you cannot see the files in any app that supports that framework/API as old API is removed from those 2 OS versions and fall back wont be there since MinSDK version for the PlayStore update policy will break everything.
Want a proof ? Just go to the bullshit Pixel recorder (uses pathetic recording standards, no FLAC no high bitrate, I don't know what's the mode - Stereo or still Mono), and then you have to share the files to other apps to make it visible, Just like fucking Apple iOS.
To be honest only one phone does it, Sony Xperia I Mark 2, or Xperia 5 II. Latter has High Refresh panel which is better for it's screen, bonus is no bullshit notch or hole either. I'm going to consider Xperia 5 II, the LG V60 is great but the problem is notch, no bootloader unlock. I will lose the ESS DAC but that's fine, I have a V30 and that will do the DAP job well.
SD Card slot is a big deal because we don't have any way to store all the hours of 4k video and all the huge photos.
Personally, I am willing to give up SD card for easier waterproofing, but people shouldn't have to make that choice. The microSD card interface should be 100% completely waterproof.
Holy crap, I just looked at the Xperia 5 II and you are right, it has FRONT STEREO SPEAKERS. Just missing wireless charging which I don't really use anyway. This might become my next phone! Thanks a lot.

No headphone jack. As a user of a Galaxy S8 and iPhone XR I can attest that at least for me the lack of a jack is a big deal. I have a headset paired with my laptop and both phones and it is a nightmare as any notification from any of the devices temporarily disconnects it from the other ones, which means that I'd need 3 headsets, each paired with one device, and switch as needed. It is just not practical. So I end up unpairing the headset from the phones, but then I need to plug in on the fly if needed, and I have to keep 2 pairs, one with the lightning connector that works only on teh iPhone. A pain in the neck.
bigger battery fantastic-- lower heat -- even better in box charger does not have insane speeds but phone capable of insane charging speeds -- best of both worlds Flat screen -- wonderful. Does anybody remember the last days of CRT? flat screens were a major selling point. @andrei -- could you PLEASE find out the specifications of the USB port?

Yeah....I admire the Xiaomi budget offerings...but as also mentioned...no IP rating no sale. My 6P died in about an inch of water. Never again.
