"This new product line from Honor starts with an interesting concept which takes advantage of the strong identity and product design team that the company has"

You mean it looks like a knock-off of a Lenovo gaming notebook?

Good prices, the 1660Ti model for $1000 is pretty dope.

Love the uplifted design, there should be more notebooks like this.

Seems very clever. I am curious how well it holds up over time.

ASUS already has a few, they eventually ditched it in favor of using the hinges to just lift the laptop up (like HP, Vaio, etc do), which has largely the same effect.

Honor's solution looks imo much more aesthetically pleasing than what ASUS is doing.
  • antonkochubey - Sunday, September 20, 2020 - link

It doesn't, it looks like your notebook is delaminating / falling apart.

The hinge solution is easier to sell than any solution that looks like it's deforming the casing. Buyers have been told for years and years that casing rigidity is a measure of quality.

Is a part that was designed to bend bending actually a sign of low quality, though? There's nothing indicating that case rigidity is negatively affected by that part being designed to bend in that particular way.

its not something you want to use on your lap, legs will bite into your legs. that is the reason for most laptops to skip it. IF you want this effect use cooling pad for laptop.
  • PeachNCream - Monday, September 21, 2020 - link

I use cooling pads for my laptops mainly because the majority of my computing happens from a couch where a laptop is either sitting on my legs or placed off to one side on an empty part of the sofa. This arrangement is sometimes a pain because I need to pick up and move two objects that might be connected via USB cable (for cooling pad fan power) so they can slide and separate if I'm not exercising due care. A laptop that can lift itself sufficiently on a couch and both not ingest dust or debris while staying cool enough to actually sit on my lap would be really nice. For the moment, I'm using a fanless 11.6 inch HP Stream with a Celeron n3060, but packing a lot more compute power into a platform that can operate on top of a soft surface would be nice - assuming this design from Honor can actually do such a thing.

How long before Trump bans this, too?
  • Samus - Sunday, September 20, 2020 - link

As long as it doesn't have LTE\5G I don't see what grounds they could have for going after this, but you never know...
  • Rookierookie - Tuesday, September 22, 2020 - link

The only reason Trump hasn't banned this is that he doesn't know it exists.

i3-10300h? or i5-10300h instead? Waiting for this monster!
  • Samus - Sunday, September 20, 2020 - link

I'm not sure how much of a difference the i3 and i5 will have for gaming. But as-is the i3 for $1000 is a really competitive price considering the 1660Ti

Nice to see a gaming laptop that has good cooling - far too many skimp on that. Being confident enough to run the system for 72 minutes in "power virus" mode is not something that many vendors would do.

I can't wait for the Ryzen 5 4800H and Ryzen 7 4800H versions! I wonder how they'll compare in prices...
