The situations where secure external storage would truly be useful are the same situations that would disallow use of phones or devices containing Bluetooth. In a word, this is not useful.
I guess this would be fine for non-sensitive stuff. As far as these affordable consumer-grade secure drives go, I'd prefer one with a physical keypad. That and automatic self-erasure after too many wrong password attempts, epoxy-coated electronics, the best certifications possible, etc.
