Lol, those motherboard graphics.... ppl think this shit looks good?

Also, somebody needs to work on the funeral arrangements for ATX. WTF do you need 3 PCI-E 16x slots for??? The entire bottom 3rd of the board is useless.

Capture cards, and/or future high-speed storage solutions? It's not that far outside the realm to think people should keep that functionality for a few inches of real estate. I for one love the micro stuff, but I wish there were breakout options to use those expansion options later.

Yeah, yeah, there are niche cases were someone will more than two cards but its such a small percentage of the market its laughable to think that a board with 7 expansions slots is the default.

I have no idea what the actual numbers are for new builds but most people 75% (ish) put in a graphics card and never anything more. The 24.9%, 99.9% of the market that actually use a slot beyond the first graphics card would be served by a mATX board.

I buy the cheapest between ATX and M-ATX. With my preference toward ATX. I don't mind larger cases and who knows maybe I might need the extra slot(s) for something down the road. But, it is a lot less usefully now that nic's, wifi, sound, etc are on board now. Also usb can be used for more stuff now.

A PCIe x1, x2, x4, x8 and x16 card fit in a PCIe x16 slot. Why not put in a 16 connector, even when it never runs at 16, since everything can slot into it? It never runs at x16, it just has an x16 connector because they work for anything.

The additional 16x slots do seem like simply a feature added to help categorize the motherboard as higher end. SLI is barely supported by modern software so the idea of installing more than one GPU to attain higher performance is more of an idle dream to resurrect the past than a physical reality in a DX12 world.

As for full ATX motherboards, there will be people around that can generate reasons - excuses mostly since few people actually implement the hardware they state justifies the board's expansion or simply fill a full ATX case with pointless hardware in order to sit back and say, "See?! All this money I tossed into this computer that fills up the case makes the huge case I bought seem like less of an electronic penis extender and more of a functionally justifiable thing. You believe me right girlfriend/spouse/significant other? Right? Why are you rolling your eyes? Talk to me baby! I have a huge PC!" At any rate, you shouldn't call them out for it because they get upset and aggressive when you point that out in the same way that rednecks flip out if you ask them why the tossed half their annual income into a loud, obnoxious, wasteful pickup truck. It just causes the need for grunting manboob people to howl incoherently in response to the threat they feel you are to their mindless, commercialized money sink.
