This midrange chip will probably show up on USD $300 devices. Yet, it looks like it will outcompete against a USD $1,200 Samsung Galaxy Note 20, with its lacklustre Exynos 990 chipset.
It's refreshing to see these "midrange" SoC's finally surpass the performance of the old flasgship chipsets like the QSD 835 and QSD 845. Though the QSD 855 and QSD 865 are still top-tier for now in the Android Ecosystem.
Though I'm more curious about the major (or minor) improvements coming this year to the Apple A14 and A14Z to power the next iPhone and iBook, as rumoured.
erynos is trying to chase a bit to many rabbits at same time. They try to replace gpu inside with rdna from AMD with ~400% gain, integrate stuff, but keep separate modules as option etc..... That's why it takes performance hit.
The performance gain will be too high compared to any chip Qualcomm will have, so how exactly will samsung try to sell the next galaxy phone in north America with a much slower GPU while the international model will have the amd gpu?
Now I know that it's hard (for good reasons!) to trademark numbers, but why would they use one that's associated with a older Snapdragon? Pretty sure some well-paid lawyer at Qualcomm spent some hours looking into this.

None knows the power usage of that leaked chip's benchmarks. And its not like qualcomm will just sit there forever.iphonebestgamephone - Wednesday, May 20, 2020 - link
The gpu of this thing would be really weak compared to 845, even the 1000l is worse. Though it is a lot more efficient.boozed - Monday, May 18, 2020 - link
