Bezels appear really thin in the first image, is it Windows or some app with the big black horizontal bar at the top in the second image? Also, Huawei can't make phones but they can make laptops?
Kinda strange. Perhaps laptops are considered safe as China can't source in-house x86 processors. But they do make their own mobile chips. So they can't use Google services since software control is the only option. Also the propaganda of Huawei in China is freaking insane now
Is it the transistor size really the metric of note, or the performance, battery life, and similar? Granted, Intel is far behind competitors in manufacturing technology and therefore very likely behind in battery life and performance, but the end product may still be competitive.
The Ryzen 4600H is the lowest entry level standard TDP laptop processor right now. 6 cores, not 4 (AMD doesn't even sell a 4-core), and is basically twice as fast as this laptop. 2020 is the year the same old same old slow and hot and overpriced Intel laptop CPU died. No thanks.
TDP is just wattage limit, so ryzen could draw far less power for same performance compared to Intel CPU, perf per watt is the real innovation progress,...
Make a version with a 25W 4600U/4700U/4800U and 16GB of LPDDR4X and I'll gladly buy one. Of course keeping the 3:2 display is a must - far too often are the good display options limited to Intel-based SKUs. I'm not buying Intel at this point though. It's not that they aren't good CPUs, it's just that there is a better option.
You basically wrote what I was going to. AMD is getting less gimped (no more single channel memory or TN panels... *sigh* small victory) but they still aren't getting serious design wins.
The Asus zephyrus g14 is cool but it's still gamer focused, 16:9 display. I'd much prefer a 15-17in, U series amd cpu (with overkill cooling for even 25W tdp-up mode), maybe a gtx1650 or equivalent (maybe just igpu), 32GB of memory, 90+Wh battery and a 16:10 or 3:2 display, giant touch pad, all wrapped in a sleek aluminum unibody. Basically a dell xps 17...with amd...
I'm very frustrated at all the U series processors. If there is no video card and it is for business, they should use an H processor, the total TDP without any GPU is very low even with the 4600H. They sell you the U series because people have no idea how bad they are. Speaking as a frustrated Dell XPS buyer, wow it sucks. I won't buy a U series CPU in a laptop again.
U series from Intel is quite disappointing. I positively hate my Dell xps 13. It basically just thermal throttles 24/7. It has a terrible heatsink and the fan never runs. U series from amd is quite a bit better based on reviews. But generally manufacturers pair them with trash coolers. Slap a bigger heatsink on a u series, set the tdp to 25w and they'd be amazing.
Man, they really need a redesign to be able to put a i7-10710U and a MX350 in there. This is the 2nd update to this laptop but essentially still is the same as the first version with a i7-8550U and a MX150
So you only promote fair market with the companies of your choice? Remember you’re living in capitalist world system. If you think consumer products have anything to do with politics, throw away all your belongings that made in China, then you can come back here and shout some more BS.
What difference does it make where the parent company is from? Same Chinese people assembling the same components regardless, and it's not like US companies are paying their taxes.
No, no, you got it all wrong: as an (assumed) American citizen you have a civic duty to enrich the CEOs and other moneyed classes. How else are they to maintain their mansions and private jets, and maintain the illusion of freedom in the country? You are free to not have your tax money provide essential services to you, and you are free to give what little money your salary provides you with to whichever ultra-rich person you choose. That is true freedom!
Geopolitics seems to be driving a lot more of the thinking of some people these days. It is a disappointment to see this kind of conflict happening because it comes moreso at the cost of average people than to the wealthy or those in a leadership position that can certainly afford to see a decrease in pay while maintaining a comfortable lifestyle over those low income wage workers that are already at or below generally accepted levels of poverty.
Plus the table seems to indicate all models come with a nvidia GPU (sadface), where the text **implies** that the "higher end Matebook 13 comes with a GPU".
I love the 3:2 aspect ratio. Too bad the anti-glare layer doesn't seem very good. Also, no Thunderbolt, and too few USB ports on the non-Pro model. Where are the webcams located?
Interesting hardware, but I'm no fan of the glossy screens. I get that they are necessary to enable touch, but I don't think most laptop users realize any benefits from adding touch hardware. They do benefit from non-glossy screens. We have been through a the bad old days of glossy everything with laptops once before when Windows Vista was still a mainstream OS and I wish that when we had moved on, the idea would have stayed buried in the discarded fad pile. Same goes for everything-has-touch that was a thing when Windows 8 was first released. Yet here we are combining the worst of both of those feature sets that raises the prices for otherwise okay hardware.
Imagine being a 2000 year old culture and still be unable to do anything original for yourself. It’s so tiring watching these shit Chinese companies copy everything and never have an original idea.
How about DJI drones? They are the most innovative comppany in drone business and it has the most marketshare in the world. Even western brand drones copy DJI's feature
I have last years pro model and whilst the screen is great the camera is unusable due to the angle. I have to resort to a USB WebCam which is far from ideal. I would caution against buying this laptop if you need any form of videoconferencing.
