Nice this is nearly perfect, and what I wanted Samsung to make. The only issue is the weight, Samsung's is 163g, not 218g, we need a Poco mini at 170g.
It's probably more to do with power draw, LPDDR5 is about 15% lower power usage than 4X at peak, if you bring down the frequency it will probably decrease the power draw by quite a bit.
Too bad it's too early to tell, if this one will be picked up by a LineageOS maintainer: Then it would be a really great phone with a long life cycle and accordingly a much better bang for the buck.
Recently LinageOS adoption of Xiaomi devices has fallen behind and I can't say I like their launcher and the bloatware they put on their phones. Just returned a Mi 8 Pro at half this price, which couldn't be rooted for lack of a working TWRP on Android 10: Very nice hardware otherwise.
A flat screen is a real bonus for longevity and I find the headphone jack useful in planes.

The SE has a tiny battery, this one is nearly 3x as big... the SE certainly is faster and will be supported longer by Apple. Then again this is likely to drop in price soon, unlike the SE.
I would be tempted to buy one myself but how are the camera on these things? I'd rather get a Sony or Samsung modranger over this one because I've owned Xiaomi and their camera picture quality isn't too good. At this price point I think everyone wants a decent camera.
It seems that you don't care enough to use Gcam, because Xiaomi models generally get supported Gcam versions fairly quickly, whereas the hardware seems to have pretty high potential, especially the Zoom model that's not available overseas but at least the UWA from this model seems better than any counterpart in a Sony or Samsung midranger, and the main is generally on par with the flagships.
OIS I feel is important if you have photography in mind as the priority, but may not be a show stopper for many I suspect. In the first gen Pocophone, I recall there is no OIS as well and it sold really well. I've one myself, and for the price I paid, I've not nothing much to complain.
Instead I feel the top end SOC and RAM is certainly more useful and great to have, considering all other phone manufacturers are charging substantially more. For people on a budget, it should still allow them to have a capable phone for work and gaming, instead of those mid range SOC.
I'm a bit disappointed by the smartphones price trend this year, and especially by this brand. I hoped they would release a device priced below 400€, just like the previous F1 . I know prices will lower pretty soon, but it won't reach a decent price anyway (at least for me) .
Damn 700 EUR phone without OIS ? Apple is making better and better camera and they are making it worse. The problem with these phones is that they are entering Apple teritory with less than perfect features. Apple on the other hand has impeccable hardware , just overpriced. Too bad.
Apple is charging more mainly because of they are the only ones using iOS (which is the key differentiator), while the rest of the phone makers are struggling to differentiate themselves from one another. In addtion, Apple tend to support their phones substantially longer and security updates. Typically if you get a recent iPhone, you can be sure you won't be missing any updates for a few years, While in the Android camp, most phone makers provide limited, sluggish updates. You may not even get any updates if you settle for a mid range phone.
Wasn't Xiaomi known as Apple of China ? Doesnt Miui copy the look of Apple ? They are making good value phones but recently they started to cut corners. How much cost would add OIS ? close to zero.
Same phone with 765 insted of 865 but with OIS would be a steal. Instead of K30 5G that retails for 200USD they coud make it 220 USd with OIS and they would have had an awesome phone for an incredible price.
Point is that a new buyer of Mi6 / Mi8 in the past was impressed by the device.
Now a buyer of F2 pro would say nice phone , bad picures though. A buyer of Mi10 would be still looking for an Apple for same money that is a superior phone anyway.
Myself Xiaomi user : Note 3 pro/ Mi 5 / Note 8 Pro / Mi8 very nice phones for the price. Not anymore.
It's nice to see Xiaomi keeps putting out solid hardware for a good price, but I won't be getting any more of their digital products, had enough of spying firmware and locked bootloaders (so you cannot easily root the phone or install a 3rdparty ROM - not that I wanted to, they all seem to be somewhat lacking polish). I decided to try an A-brand phone which was also reasonably priced and enjoyed it.
Xiaomi made the name for themselves when their phone had the best bang for your buck by far, but many years had passed since then. Xiaomi is trying hard to be the second Apple corp., and competition, namely the major non-Chinese brands, are no longer lagging behind so much.
The latest version of the Poco f2 is phenomenal and amazing to watch. And its look is so cool as well and this is the thing that will increase their market rate.
