What do you imagine people will think when they read your post?

I guess it's easier to post vitriol than check the source links.

No one is going to spend money on a $900 VR toy for one game in this economic environment.
  • imaheadcase - Monday, March 23, 2020 - link

You mean just VR itself. VR has been trying to take off for 10+ years now, i've yet to see anything "fun" with it.

Economics don't stop people from entertainment.

You managed to say an impressive number of wrong things in very few words. One could invert your statements and have a more accurate post.

Oh sure, the stats that show i'm right are wrong, and the bubble you live in is right. lol

I literally just ordered the Index just because of the HLA release, dude.
  • imaheadcase - Tuesday, March 24, 2020 - link

ok? You are on a tech site not a actual normal every day person who doesn't want to be bothered with it.

I mean even valve themselves say that development is slow on games because lack of user retention after buying a device. They play a game and never touch it again.
  • willis936 - Tuesday, March 24, 2020 - link

No one here has contested the obvious retention problem with VR. Not even valve, who have an interest in VR, make strong statements about its future.

That doesn't mean some people aren't going to buy a VR kit for HLA. Some certainly are. Not many. Importantly, no one anywhere is saying many will or that this is some inflection point for adoption. Valve is pushing the needle by putting in the hard work for that to even be a possible future.

I've put 2 hours in today on my ancient Oculus and it works awesome. Since I only have a 980 (not even Ti) the lower res Oculus is more adequate than something higher-res that would choke my videocard.

But I probably wouldn't have bought the game if I didn't already have an Oculus (which was admittedly collecting dust over the last two years - I bought it when Facebook dropped the price drastically in 2017)

Nearly the exact same story for me. I nearly shit myself the first time a zombie came within arms reach of me.

Get Walking Dead Saints & Sinners. Absolute fun!
