    No 16K? No buy.
  • Makaveli - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Looks thick. We sure this is a 2020 model :)
  • Drkrieger01 - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

    But... I like 'em thick...

Is it IP66 rated for salt spray and explosion-proof devices?

I'm thinking about using one as the back wall in my beach house in Saudi Arabia ...
  • edzieba - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Just buy 4 and stack 'em up!
  • willis936 - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Holy smokes! 16 bit 120 Hz 8K! What a monument.
  • jardows2 - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Ah, look at you and your cute little 32" screen. How darling!

You can't tell me this sort of display size isn't a fantasy of yours!
  • TheWereCat - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Only 15.11PPI? No amount of AA will be enough to save me from the pixel while gaming on this thing from a typical 80cm eye distance from the screen!
  • Holliday75 - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Left! There is someone on your left! How can you not see him? He is only 5' to the left!
  • Vitor - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

So, a micro led per pixel, right?
  • phoenix_rizzen - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

3 micro-LEDs per pixel, one for each colour of red, green, blue.
  • a5cent - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Three micro LED per pixel, one per color.
  • ksec - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

In case it wasn't clear, nether the 7x or 14x inch MicroLED are 8K,
  • PeachNCream - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

It isn't curved and I bet they charge like $1200 extra for the stupid stand.
  • Holliday75 - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Thing needs a fork lift. Try $40,000
  • PeachNCream - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Well then Samsung needs to include the necessary silverware. Maybe they could throw in a complete set including spoons, knives, and BOTH sorts of forks.

I have always hated the line "If you have to ask, you can't afford it!" To me that just says, "We added such a mark-up, that anyone who understands HW costs, will become enraged at the number."

I don't care how rich I become, I'm always going to want to know what it cost! Just because you have money doesn't mean you can't be semi-frugal.
  • fred666 - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

relax, it was just a joke. It means the price isn't announced yet but we expect it to be VERY expensive
  • PeachNCream - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

I think the target market for these will not likely be people buying for persoanl use. The 583 inch model is over 48.5 feet of diagonal. The smallest option is still 75 inches which is over 6 feet. Buyers will probably be few in number. In B2B sales, quotes after an inquiry are the way of things so sometimes prices are not even published to the public at large.
  • Makaveli - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

As many rich people have told me "being Semi-frugal" is what keeps you rich.

Instead of lotto winners who go broke in 5 years because they are buying everybody and their mum's cars and house and not actually investing to generate money.
  • Kjella - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

A lot of "old money" actually spend very little of it ever because it's not in their nature. But then they have kids that get spoiled and pampered with lavish luxury who end up not having any clue how much money they're throwing around. Old man dies, it all turns into a shit show.
  • Peskarik - Wednesday, February 12, 2020 - link

Excuse me?! Show me the "old" money Vanderbildts, Kluges, Hartfords, Rockefellers. They had billions then and squandered them all. As the saying goes, the first generation makes it, the second generation spends it, and the third generation blows it.

How long before movie theatres start replacing screens+projector with these kinds of things?

Would it be more power efficient than a laser projector? Should have better brightness/contrast controls compared to a projector, no?
  • lormor - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Samsung already does this. They market it as the "Onyx" screen https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/led-signage/o...

Star Cinema in Houston, TX has one.

  • phoenix_rizzen - Wednesday, February 12, 2020 - link

Huh, neat. Thanks for the link. :)
  • Kjella - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Well it's tiles so they can put together as many as they want, each tile is 31.75 x 17.86 inches. So 4x4 for 146", 16x16 for 292", 64*64 for 583", just add a bigger signal splitter. Oh and unless they prices have changed recently it's about $16k/tile meaning the 583 inch bad boy can be yours for like $65 million give or take. It makes even the most expensive OLED seem cheap...

    micro LED fro macro screen

Me as a multi-millionaire. "OK, years left till I'm 80? Divided by twelve. Ah, my monthly budget.
  • euler007 - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Not sure about that last line. Even if I was worth 50M$ and had a 1M$ budget for a new TV I'd ask for the price. How do you write the check or do the bank transfer?
  • dgingeri - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Looks like the front screen on the Enterprise-D bridge.
  • Cullinaire - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

Well at least you don't have to play the panel lottery with these.
  • boeush - Tuesday, February 11, 2020 - link

As a bonus, the power bill for it will be only slightly less affordable than the screen itself. As a further bonus, you probably won't ever again need a space heater. On the flip side, for those hot days you might want to invest in a few additional air conditioner systems...

Watching SD pr0n on this one must be like playing Minecraft on 24"
  • Peskarik - Wednesday, February 12, 2020 - link

I'm not buying it. There is nothing to watch on TV anyway, on any of the thousand channels, just garbage (ok, maybe some good stuff on history channel).
  • flyingpants265 - Thursday, February 13, 2020 - link

This is from the book Fahrenheit 451.
