something something us resident only. something something i'm really mad. something something i'm entitled to free stuff, but I can't be bothered to look into governmental restrictions on giveaways for my country. something something even though most every past anandtech giveaway is us only, somehow I keep opening these articles and somehow I'm *SHOCKED* it's the same thing again.
I'm US and I don't really care. If I want something I have the means to buy it, so I won't enter anyways, but good luck to the entrants that do enter. Hopefully being facetious will keep the worldwide giveaway salt to a minimum.
Eh, it's how I am. I'd rather pre-emptively take people's words away by saying whatever utterly predictable and useless post they'd make (in advance) rather than read the same drivel posted over and over again. It tends to take people off balance and then they reconsider actually posting anything once they realize the post they wanted to make has not only been made but simultaneously parodied.
I'd rather 1 troll post exist rather than dozens of useless comments exist. Time and time again people whine for worldwide giveaways, time and time again Anandtech explains there are governmental restrictions which vary country by country for giveaways and that they're not going to be held legally liable for being unable to meet the criteria of every single country's laws, and whining about it in comments sections doesn't inherently change your country's giveaway laws, so just don't bother posting here at all. It's not as if spending 10 minutes registering for a giveaway to win a mere 500gb SSD even matters.
Twitter suspended my hardly ever used account because I refused to give them my telephone number for verification. Twitter made billions turning discourse into cesspool and now wants my real identification to bring that cesspool into my real world so they can make billions more off my personal info. F**k them.
Same. I haven't made a single post, but "You account is suspended, gimme you phone, all your personal data blablabla". Obviously, they collect a database of people who are not interested in their privacy at all.
And of course there are other ways to combat bots. What they try to eliminate are smart people.
Depending on the time period, that probably had to do with the Russians at the fake Internet Research Agency trying to manipulate Americans and Britons. Try not to take offense to it, it’s for a good cause, you know, democracy. Also, Twitter doesn’t need to use phone numbers to make money, and there isn’t a worthwhile way for them to sell them anyway.
So tired of twitter. No thanks. And it would be nice if you guys got rid of your tweets section taking up so much space. No one really wants to figure out the context from those so they are mostly worthless.
I appreciate the Twitter section. it's useful to see the authors opinions and putting out tidbits of information not featured in major articles. What's with the Twitter hate? Is it trendy anti-twitter hipster? :D

Twitter asks for a phone number to help combat bots. Ya know, one of their tools to help clean up to 'cesspool.'And I guarantee Twitter doesn't make billions of _your_ personal info.
