    I don't think an Intel Skylake-X rig built in a case themed like the X299 CPU packaging would have the same appeal. :3

    I think this mostly goes to show that the Threadripper retail packaging is ridiculously oversized.

    if the box was "not wanted" I believe can get just the bare cpu itself
    for everyone else me thinks "you paid premium $$$ why the hell not have a wonking big box to put your tuna fish sammich in, a soda pop, maybe some a bag of chips, we made it this way so you are still able to eat and such while while you rip up on whatever task tickles your fancy"

    That's the 1000 series Threadripper packaging. The 2000 series is even more over the top.

    Wow, I would really buy a HTPC in that case. Not due to it being in TR chassis, but I like this cube like dimension. It seems like a piece of art rather than PC.
