How wrong you are. This is the original inspiration for the Air. Apple ripped it off and made a few pathetic modifications to mask their lack of any real design ability.
You people, always accusing the Chinese of ripping off good design. Never consider it might be the reverse.
Have you ever overlaid a graph of Ikea's growth since the 1970s with the increase in divorce rates? I know correlation and causation when I sees it. I bet Apple's design team visit Ikea on a regular basis both to rip off the "fake" laptop designs and to get rid of the evil, money grabbing women they've got adhered to their wallets like leeches. You have a high paying job and want to lose the money grabbin', moochin' wife who's no longer pretty? Take a trip to Ikea. A surefire way to initiate divorce proceedings.
Look at the background, they probably are selling desks or stands, and put a dummy on their actual product for demonstration. Otherwise will you left a real macbook air unsupervised?
Are you trolling us or did you really fail to realize this is just a dummy they put on the their products (based on the background it appears the company is actually selling tables) to show case?
They do this in the US too, use prop electronics. The difference is those props are not actually branded, just generic plastic boxes that roughly resemble a laptop or stereo.
I don’t really think this is a big deal, not nearly as much as an operational fake MacBook. It still goes to the point though that some parts of the world don’t really care about copyrights, trademarks, etc.
"It’s a common way to get a cheap laugh: mention that " Ian Cutress can't write to save his life and a lot of easily found and fixed typos exist in his articles. ;-)
So color me unsurprised to find a fake MacBook Air... "Call" not color: So call me unsurprised to find a fake MacBook Air...
They also got a big agitated when I started taking pictures. "bit" not "big": They also got a bit agitated when I started taking pictures.
Just tormenting you, keep writing the good articles.
Its a colloquialism. How about an example like, "I'm good?" Good is an adjective. It should read, "I'm well". "Color me X," is not grammatically wrong. Its also spelled correctly. Its just incorrect usage of the English language.
Still, we can alway get into a religious war over this if you want to. ;-)
"Still, we can alway get into a religious war over this if you want to. ;-)" You started this bullshit by being outrage over (fake) issues?! Shut up, mate!
"Its just incorrect usage of the English language."
Nope. Wrong. Totally wrong. Just stop digging. Language is for conveying ideas, and everyone knows what he means when he says that. He didn't coin that phrase. And even if he did, so what? People do that all the time.
"I am well" is also wrong (unless specifically talking about health). Good is an adjective, yes. You are saying that your state of being is good. You don't want an adverb there. You're not trying to say you are good at feeling. Yeah, "am" is a verb. A linking verb. Pop quiz! "The cake is delicious" or "The cake is deliciously"? "Is" is a verb so clearly you need an adverb there right? Right? Wrong.
It's pretty cool. I did notice it has buttons, but I was wondering what do they do. Those should be thankful to be noticed by Anandtech to say the lest.
Have you never been into a furniture store before? They put fake laptops on them to stage them. They cost next to nothing and there's no threat of them being stolen and you get a feel for what it will look like in your home. They've been doing this for ... ever?

Is it a look-alike PC that has a reskinned OS, or is it a "commercial" Hackintosh (i.e., running a hacked OSX)? Inquiring minds want to know.olafgarten - Friday, May 31, 2019 - link
I don't think the laptop is real, it's just a casing with a sticker of a desktop on the screen.hirschma - Friday, May 31, 2019 - link
OK, now it's clear (and now I actually read the article) - it's just a prop for selling the desk. Nothingburger.philehidiot - Saturday, June 1, 2019 - link

*insert uncalled for joke about how the fake is more useful than the real thing and is priced at what a MacBook is actually worth*GreenReaper - Saturday, June 1, 2019 - link
It's hard to compete with the power consumption of a sticker!(Although I guess you do need lights on to see it...)

Who knows?Though I wouldn't put it beyond Apple to consider the Macbook Air design "protected IP," despite being a generic laptop profile nowadays.
jeremyshaw - Friday, May 31, 2019 - link
That being said, actually putting "Macbook Air" on the model isn't going to help them.sor - Friday, May 31, 2019 - link
