It's so freaking tall just to add superficial heat spreader goo-gaw. Are there really enough basement dweller eSports fans out there that buy this stuff to make a market for such awful products or are OEM marketing departments just filled with desperate, delusional graphic designers that are so afraid of losing their jobs that they copycat one another to the point of nauseating every sane, rational person that might want to buy computer parts?
This kind of thing likely wasn't the decision of the designers themselves. More likely, someone higher up the totem pole said "this is what's cool now. Make us one of these" and the designers didn't have much of a choice :P
