Due to Trump's sanctions, ARM (a British company) has decided to pull support from Huawei. If they want to continue making chips, they need to find a new architecture. To my knowledge, Android doesn't support RISC-V, and Google is barred from working with them, so they would need to do the porting themselves.
This is a very interesting article. I've followed the "tech" sector for a while now but I have personly never heard about IP for USB stuff. This is an interesting potential bottleneck if "USB Gen 3.x Type-C as there are just a few companies in the world who have silicon-proven and USB IF-certified implementation" hold to be true. I assumed since USB has seen such wide adoption the tech was functionally similar to open source.
