That is the most hideous motherboard I've ever seen.

It's a mud against a wall product in the high end gaming market segment. If it looks half-arsed its because its likely that beneath the glitz is real concern about declining sales volumes and efforts to compensate by adding features that increase per unit profits. A lot of the RGB gaming stuff out there has that same aroma of corporate fear and pressure from shareholders.

Reading the title i thought at first it was both for $899. I was like Yes please. lol

Wait a second, the CPU is already at 5.0Ghz clocked by itself. You can get it with a combo on amazon for $804 right now with the ROG Maximus XI Hero Z390. Unless you care about some of the premium features of the one shown here that is a better deal and still will get overclocks i bet a LOT cheaper than this one even water cooled. The closed loop coolers most people use will be good enough.

4.6 Ghz is the default clock speed across 8 loaded cores. They're not talking about simply bumping the single-core turbo mode by 100mhz.

That said, it's absolutely not worth the money.

cant really compare the boards because this one comes with a monoblock that its easily worth $150+. Personally i think the bundle makes sense because whoever has 900 bux to drop on this board will likely wanna run a 9900k with it. Question is how much for the bundle because i feel like they will add a huge premium for being pre overclocked. If not and if they keep the bundle priced at close to their msrp for the items than id say worth it.

I don't really want to comment on aesthetics, but I wouldn't go for this type of motherboard. If I were to spend extra on a waterblock for the CPU, I'd rather buy one that's compatible with a socket size so that if I were to upgrade to a new generation of CPUs (with Intel's trademark chipset restrictions, so you gotta get a new mobo), then I'd want to take that waterblock with me to the next build, as well.

This integrated waterblock is nice for users that don't want to do the watercooling research, but it's ultimately tied to this motherboard and this platform of CPUs, and there aren't any future upgrades past the 9900k. I don't think this will sell well, and I don't think Gigabyte likes making low-volume products that won't sell well, so I don't think such a design would be beneficial for most anyone...

Ooof. And I just noticed the extremely specific shape of the single o-ring that seems to stretch diagonally from VRM to CPU to chipset. O-rings degrade over time--eventually sourcing an OEM o-ring for this specific product would be hellish.

If they use a nitrilic one instead of the most common polyurethane o'ring, you will probably have it for an entire life, It's advisable to not put so much pressure when mounting, avoiding deformations.

Viton o'rings are even better than nitrile o'rings.

And yeah users who don't do WC research aren't going to be the ones dropping the best part of 2k on CPU/mobo alone are they... and the ones that are, are pro workstation users, not RGB gamer/bencher WC max Ghz users

With 5G in the name, I though perhaps it game with 5G
