Toshiba has a meatier, more delicious share of the Asian market. But yes, I agree that the change won't exactly help Sharp grow its slice of the US computer pie.
The Toshiba Dynabook was one of the first laptops in the mid-80's so they probably think the name is worth something. In reality almost no one will be aware of the connection when shopping for a laptop.
Glad to know that the Toshiba PC division at least remained with a Japanese company. Jap products from these old companies seem to last forever - I bought two used Fujitsu OE PCs and they run without fuss. My friend's Vaio had a fantastic FHD display (in 2012) and it still runs without issue. Also, Sony were probably the only laptop company that actually pointed you to the driver sites of EACH INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT for driver updates as and when they were released (this was before Windows 10, remember).

Well that name change should take them from 0.0001% of the US market down to 0.00001%PeachNCream - Wednesday, April 3, 2019 - link

Reminds me of the cheesy tech related names that we used to get in the 90's.And as a graphic designer i have to say that the logo is fucking appalling.
