I wonder it they charge extra for omitting the air cooler. Also, it would be bad if someone with a lack of knowledge purchased on of these things and thought, "Oh wow! They finally have a GPU that doesn't require a cooling solution just like my old Cirrus Logic 1MB VGA board!" That could result in a real-time ray tracing brick.
As the article says, "As the name implies, the video card is intended for those who plan to use an aftermarket liquid cooling system and do not want to pay for an air cooler."
I would assume the only reason they would do this is to differentiate themselves by offering a slightly lower price, not an increase.
Temp is capped. No worries. It just will run on 1 cylinder only or stop. Almost 400w with this card. Use a watercooler on the card. Purdy custom pc have watercooling now. There is space on most miniITX for a twinrow cooler and two heatexchanger/pumps/blocks

From all appearances the PCB is completely identical to the FE version. Likely Colorful are just calling the 13+3 VRM phases "16 phase".
Actually this is not a bad idea, if you know you are going for a custom cooling solution. You don't need to bother with wasted default cooler, parts don't have any thermal conductor/paste stuck on them so it's cleaner and easier to install your own. Fingers crossed price is also lower to accomodate missing cooler block.
I wonder when Nvidia will release a card that’s actually better than the 2+ year old pascal lineup. They got rid of the cooler. Good. Now get rid of the board.
This is good advanced critical thinking by the manufacturers and I approve. I'll up it one; Why don't the GPU makers cover the top of the GPU boards with a plastic cover and include adjustable lighting to better customize your case?
How does the warranty work with this? If none is implied or given, then that's a big nope. At least one that's ready to go you can test and make sure its functioning first. This just seems too risky to me.
