"On display was a H221-Q20 2-node 2U server using QDF2400 (Centriq) processors. Each processor..."
What's the difference between 2-node and 2-socket? Wasn't the great flaw of Centriq, the misfeature that supposedly showed that QC did not know what they were doing, that it came in only a single-socket version?
From the picture, it appears the motherboard is very narrow. I think the design is two motherboards per 2U chassis. That would make it two "computers" or nodes per server.
There's no reason the motherboard *has* to take up the entire width of the case, and it's cheaper if it doesn't. The HDDs will likely be at the front, the end where the cables are, close to the memory.
This is good news, but Qualcomm unfortunately is quite late.
They should have worked on some large scale partnerships for a few super/larger computing solutions for a few universities or institutions. The have a clear use case to show off ...
God, I hope they don't fail. Between #AMD EPYC and Xeon, we really need more competition on the servers market (other than IBM Power and Fujitsu Custom super-cores) .

Well that's certainly an unexpected sighting. Who knows, maybe next year you'll spot K12.name99 - Tuesday, November 13, 2018 - link

I think it's narrow because there are no hard drive bays. Where exactly are the 12 3.5 inch HDDs?GreenReaper - Wednesday, November 14, 2018 - link

Minor correction -- QDF2400 has 6 channels of DDR4, with 2 DIMMs per channel.IGTrading - Wednesday, November 14, 2018 - link
