First adoption? mSTX has been done a ton already. Only Intel motherboards so far, which seems like a bit of a waste, considering a nice Ryzen APU would make a much more rounded system for some. :)
Nice! I'd love to see more adoption of MXM graphics cards so we can move away from the big ATX towers. AT and ATX were perfectly adequate when functionality like sound or a telephone modem existed in the form of a PCI or ISA card. We've seen lots of those components find their way onto the motherboard. Big clunky graphics cards are the last commonplace component that you'd install via an add-in card. Even then, most computers have done away with dGPUs so calling them commonplace might be a bit of a stretch. Anyhow broadly adopting MXM, using SODIMMs (which are probably more mass produced than standard DIMMs given the small number of desktops available today versus the more available laptops), and shedding hard drive form factors like 2.5 and 3.5 inch models can all contribute to making smaller, less intrusive computers. Now if we could just get GPU companies to get their TDPs under control and quit with the stupid >35W TDP CPUs, we'd be in good shape.

The big question: is this is completely proprietary motherboard layout, or is this the first adoption of Micro-STX?Death666Angel - Thursday, September 13, 2018 - link

You're thinking of mini-STX, AKA 5x5. Micro-STX is a physical extension of that to accommodate an MXM module.Death666Angel - Thursday, September 13, 2018 - link
Yes and no. miniSTX has the motherboards all over the place. But microSTX has been done by Asrock in their Deskmini as well. :) Cheers!29a - Thursday, September 13, 2018 - link
"Meanwhile it looks like the limitations are conditioned IBASE’s proprietary software for remote management and the GPU cooling system."What does this mean?

This doesn't seem to be terribly useful news
