"By default, the RS1619xs+ will be equipped with four GbE LAN ports"
So they're calling each port "Dual Gigabit" ? I'm confused. It's not multi-gig (2.5Gb/s) so they must be referring to the fact that it's bidirectional gigabit? Like ... all gigabit?
I think they screwed up the 2419's slide in a copy/pasto from the 619 and it should say "quad gigabyte lan ports". The 619's says dual, and has 2 ports. the ones farther down have different wording since they've also got slots to add 10GBE cards.
Looking at Qnap page nothing stands out as being much better. Unless you are the %.001 of users who want 10GBASE-T or Thunderbolt. Which is more $ investment anyway on other hardware you need which in essence increases price of those.
The only standout feature you find on more QNAP products is an HDMI port. Besides that any functionality, features, price or performance don't have any particular advantage over Synology.
Hdmi port, better cpu for plex transcoding, 10g network plus some model let you put a 40g card and also more variety of nas to choose from. Yup no advantage for qnap
We have an RT2600ac at work. While it is a solid and well performing wireless router, configuring for things like internal DNS and static DHCP is confusing, and does not work well in general. Tech support is essentially useless for this, too.
If Synology wants to play here, they really need to up their game.
I ended up having to return the RT2600ac because of those DNS/DHCP issues. Setting up a static IP address for my HTPC and NAS wouldn't stick and port forwarding wouldn't work properly either to allow my NAS and my PLEX server to reach outside the local network.
Shame because I liked the hardware and the interface.
Looks like they're going front to back since it's about 1.5x as deep as tall. The trays are wide enough that 2 stacks of 3 would be about the same dimensions as 1 row of 6.
Since C3538 has integrated 2x 10 GbE on chip, why does the DS2419+ need an expansion card for that functionality? It would also have been nice with integrated M.2 ports, now we have to choose between 10 GbE and M.2 (for additional €€€).
MR2200ac is now available to buy from SPAN. It costs around 100 and shipping in few weeks. New apple like family control functions are amazing. Once I get one, gonna do speed tests.

Very unimpressive, especially when compared with QNAP's offerings.imaheadcase - Wednesday, July 25, 2018 - link

The DS619 Slim, are the 2.5" slotted in with the length at the bottom? If not they are making it taller which doesn't look good.
