Mice vary drastically in added latency and this is a more important factor to me compared to 5000 vs 10000 dpi. Both of these are more than sufficient precision for my rail gun :-)
No, that's just the interval at which the current sensor reading is transferred to the PC. How long the mouse takes to measure a position change and pass it to its output also adds latency. I can imagine this to be significant, depending on the amount of post processing (measuring very precisely takes time), or to be no issue at all.
I wasn't able to find anyone measuring absolute latency, but the click latency from the fastest to slowest mice is >30ms. Zero in the doc referenced below is just a really fast mouse that the author used as a baseline early in his testing, all numbers are the relative delay between the reference mouse and the other ones in the table. Since then he found a few mice that were marginally faster, which is why there are a few lines with negative values at the top of the chart.

I wish they start specifying the latency as well.Mice vary drastically in added latency and this is a more important factor to me compared to 5000 vs 10000 dpi. Both of these are more than sufficient precision for my rail gun :-)

Where are you getting latency data from? Does your mouse manufacturer publish it, do you measure it objectively or subjectively?I thought USB mice get polled x times/s (500/1000 typically) and that's your latency there.
Can you elaborate?

Sadly, it is not really ambidextrous... side buttons are only on one side.As a left-handed gamer, it is deal-breaking for me. I'd gladly pay a few $ more for side buttons on both sides. Or a way to swap buttons' side.
