Was this even proofread? From the first two paragraphs:

"...we saw the unveiling of iOS 12. Apple's event Google’s event last month in showcasing their newest..."

"...rather than being tired after 5 years. "

And no mention at all of 3rd party maps for CarPlay? That was probably one of the biggest announcements of the event.

Wondered the same. Seems rushed, and I wonder why. Haven't we proven that we can wait for higher quality content?

"Tired" is the operative word since WWDC and Computex are taking place at the same time.

Anyhow, thank you for pointing that out. Fixed!

All I care about iOS12 is adding third party CarPlay navigation. Adding Waze to the head unit means I don't need a mount sticking in front of my air conditioning vent for my phone. Android is leading here, but I'm in the Apple ecosystem. This is the one feature I've been looking for!

Yea, same boat. I finally broke down and bought a vent clip last year just so Waze would be up high. Now I can ditch it and get my AC back!

    >I’ve not been a great fan of iOS responsiveness due to the fact that I find the animations far too slow – on Android devices I outright disable animations. Longer animations are also a way to hide performance hiccups – and I do wonder (and hope) now that Apple has vastly improved on this aspect in iOS 12, if they’ll be able to *provide ways to reduce animation durations*, or also offer up a way to get rid of them.

Settings -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion

I was going to mention this as well. I use reduce motion to speed up transitions, and also to reduce the “fly to” effect that can be a bit much for my eyes.
